Modifier meshes behaving strangely.

Whenever I try to manipulate a modifier mesh using the arrows in one or two axes the figures for all three axes change in the part manipulation sidebar. I am wondering if this is some sort of bug and if anyone else is having the same problem or is it normal behaviour and I am just missing something. Sorry if this is a stupid question I'm just a total noob.

Thank you.

RE: Modifier meshes behaving strangely.

First of all your video links are messed up.  Couldn't look at them on my tablet so had to boot up the pc to copy and paste into a new tab.

Second you have not mentioned what version of Prusa Slicer you are currently using, the version is not apparent from your videos.  That could make a difference to any advice as theres a lot of difference between 2.0.x, 2.1.x and 2.2.x versions.  I'm going to assume you are running 2.2.0.

The first thing you should understand is that a modifier is applied to a part and so its co-ordinate system is based RELATIVE to the part.  So for example if you place a part on the bed and then add a support enforcer cube and then use the right hand manipulator tools to position it to 0,0,0 then it will be positioned in the centre of the parts bounding box.
If you then grab the part itself (not the modifier) and move it around, then select just the modifier again you will see that its co-ordinates are still at 0,0,0 no matter where you moved the part to.

For the third video if you have rotated the main part at all then moving the modifier will change x,y,z co-ordinates as you are moving the manipulation handles relative to the world co-ordinates.  So when you pull the box along the beds x axis its position relative to the models centre is changing in both x and y.

With the model selected you should see a drop down that says World C0-Ordinates.  the other option is local co-ordinates.  This will change what is displayed in the right hand panel  for the main part but doesnt effect whats shown for the modifiers as they are alwats shown relative to the centre of the part.

@neophyl

Hopefully those videos work. Yes I am using Prusaslicer 2.2.0 sorry for not mentioning that. That makes a lot more sense now about the modifiers positions being relative to the part they are modifying and about how rotating the model changes how the positions of the modifiers in the sidebar are displayed. I understand how the modifiers positions work now. Sorry about the videos the first time and thank you for your help.
