/mnt and /media folders are not visible

I'm running Linux Mint 20 and I installed PrusaSlicer from the Software Manager.

When I try to import an STL and I navigate to the root directory /mnt or /media neither are there.
I also have a symbolic link in my home directory to the drives in those two folders and that does not appear either.

If I use files to navigate to either of those directories I can click on any STL file located in them and PrusaSlicer will open the file.
But if I try and drag and drop another file from either of those locations it pukes out with "PrusaSlicer has encountered an error. Loading of a model file failed" if I click on the file instead it opens another instance of PrusaSlicer.
I'm assuming its an elevated permissions thing so my question is how can I run slicer so I can see /mnt and /media????????

Thanks
JD

Do you have the same issue with our official AppImage?

As which user are you running PrusaSlicer?  Can that user see the whole directory tree from the console?

As a last test try running it as root - this is not your solution but it will pin it down as a permissions issue...

I generally run the AppImage as @vojtech-bubnik suggests, it's easier to keep up to date.

Cheerio,

I downloaded the Appimage and it works perfectly. -Thank you.

Back to the original question...
As for Diem's (@diem) question as to which user account was I running?, I had tried it with my normal user account AND I also tried running it as root and it would not see the mount or media directories either way.
You would think the software manager wouldn't screw up directory permissions! LOL! guess not.

In the future I'll just use the appimage. Actually, I already do this with Blender because the version in the Mint software manager is like way old.
So again thank you both.
