MK4S MMU3 Overature PETG settings help?

Hello all, I am having trouble calibrating my printer to accept Overature PETG again. I recently did the MMU3 and the MK4 to MK4S upgrades and am getting some pretty bad results with a filiment I used all the time prior to the upgrades.

I have attached my old settings for the MK4 that worked pretty well, though with the new upgrades, I'm not having the same luck.

I have done various print towers and the "all in one print test nano" but the results are less than ideal. Lots of blobbing and shifted layers.

It doesn't look like the settings file was added. Weird, I put it in the "Attach file" part. Anyway, here are the settings I used for the MK4 that used to work:

RE: MK4S MMU3 Overature PETG settings help?

Just use the prusament PETG profile.  It's worked good for me with many different PETG filaments.

It runs way too hot, unfortunately. I've tried adjusting it to work with Overature, but wound up just modifying the "Generic PETG" profile for the MK4. After many tries with the MK4S + MMU3, I can't get it to play nicely.

RE:

I just printed these tonight using the Prusament profile, Hatchbox PETG filament, .2mm structural with lowering the temp to 240.  This is with doing nothing to the part.  This is exactly how it came off the printer

I print with some silver Overature occasionally using the same settings with the same results.

Is your filament dry?

And those are scratches in my table, not strings.  There is zero stringing.

Do you have the same setup as I do? MK4S with the MMU3? Your picture is very similar to how my Overature PETG prints used to look before these upgrades using the settings I listed earlier.

Currently, I am trying to calibrate the printer for this filament using the "0.10mm FAST DETAIL" default presetting. Only adjusting the filament settings.

RE: MK4S MMU3 Overature PETG settings help?

No MMU, but I don't believe that had anything to do with what you're experiencing.  I suspect wet filament combined with bad print settings.

Are you using the Stock MK4S Inputshaping Printer profile?

The MK4S MMU3 uses the MK4 nozzle, not the MK4S high flow nozzle (as per the installation instructions). I am using the stock profiles for everything except the filament, which is a modified "Generic PETG" profile.

There is a non HF Prusament setting.  You should be able to use that.

I am using that. I have set up the printer exactly how the upgrade instructions said to. I was able to calibrate this and other filaments in two or three tries with the MK3 - MK4 versions, but I'm currently printing try 11 with the MK4S MMU3.

I keep forgetting to answer your "old filament" question. No, not old, I just opened it for this calibration. I learned the hard way not to calibrate with old filament years ago.

Always remember with PETG: "just opened" and "fresh out of the bag" does not automatically mean that it is dry enough for printing! You should dry it first. Your print in the photo looks like the filament was not dry enough. Why do people first try to change all possible settings in the slicer, waste a lot of time and filament, before they start with drying the filament?

RE: MK4S MMU3 Overature PETG settings help?

I honed it in. It was a settings issue. Even pulled another spool out to verify and it worked for about a day. I have printed with this filament pretty much exclusively for the past few years. I know it well.

I woke up this morning to a blob that destroyed my hotend and fan duct. I have been 3D printing (at least two or three prints a week) since 2015 and have had a lot of problems with other printers until I finally bought a Prusa. The Prusa MK3 was my fifth FDM printer and I never turned back. However now I am considering a Bambu. I feel like the MK4S was a hastily slapped together upgrade to compete and it is causing problems. I have only had a blob one other time on my Prusa (years ago) and it was user error. Now with the MMU3 and MK4S upgrades, I am having nothing but problems.

I have to wait til Monday to get the replacement parts before I can continue printing...

RE: MK4S MMU3 Overature PETG settings help?

Too bad.

I still think it's a setup issue of some sort.  You see the quality of my prints and I have almost zero issues with my many Prusa Machines.  The MK4 has been a great trouble free machine for me, and even after the MK4S upgrade I've had no issues.

I'd be interested to see a 3MF file with your settings.  Would you care to upload one?

If not good luck in your search for trouble free printing.
