Issue between slicer and printer time estimates

Ok  I've been printing for a while now, and never had an issue with the time estimates given by the slicer and the printer.

Apart from today, the printer has started to double the estimated time.

Example, on the slicer it says 32 hours, when the file comes up on the printer it says 64 hours.

I use a SD card to transfer files,  so I tried it with 2 other SD cards 1 brand new and 1 I have used previously.

I also uploaded a file I had printed before, which was 9 hours, and again it came up as 18 hours and I hadn't changed a thing on it.

Before posting here, I updated to the newest version of the slicer, but the issue is still the same.

I have not updated the firmware on the printer yet, as I want to rule out other possible solutions before going down that route, as I am not 100% certain how to do the firmware update.

Any ideas as to why it is doing this or how I can sort it would be really helpful.

thank you

Adam

RE: Issue between slicer and printer time estimates

This errant estimate is common and occurs with other slicers.

RE: Issue between slicer and printer time estimates

That should work with original prusa firmware and prusa slicer because what the printer shows on the display is not an estimate calculated by the printer but the progress and remaining time set via M73 commands in the gcode (and the time elapsed since last set by M73). Hence they should match the time calculated by slicer pretty accurately.

I'd recommend to check your gcode file first if the minutes set by the first M73 command match the print time calculated by Slicer.

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.
Find out why this is pinned in the general section!

Similar issue, solved by restarting printer.
I had manually set printer speeds during printing of a previous print and this setting carried over to the new print and it's time estimate was increased from the slicer's estimate.
