Is it possible to get a thicker support base?
I'm talking about the part circled in red:
I find that I spend too much time removing specks of support leftovers from the buildplate long after I've removed the actual print. I set the skirt to be two layers tall for this exact reason, as that makes it easier to peel off. Is there a way of doing the same with the support base? This question is for both organic and "normal" supports.

No there isn't. You can set the expansion ie size in X/Y , setting called First Layer Expansion located in the Print Settings>Support Material section (expert/red setting) and you can set the density also located in the same section and also an expert level setting.
Of course you could play around with your first layer extrusion settings to get more filament and adjust things that way but thats not really what you are asking for.
