Is it possible to cut this model with dovetail?
Hello. Can you please let me know if it's possible to somehow extend the cutting pane's dimensions and make the cutter cut both parts which lay on the cutting line, with both of them having dovetail?
Unfortunately I was not able to do that, one part has a perfect dovetail, but the second one is never considered to be an option. When I move the cutting pane closer to the second part, it becomes pinkish/reddish and it does not cut anything at all. It only works when the cutting pane is over one of the parts.
Maybe I need to extend the pane's dimensions manually, but unfortunately I am not able to do that as well.
PS. I apologize for the screen photo, the slicing laptop has networking issues, it can only slice.

And you have just ran into one of the problems with the wonderful tools built into PS. Its why some of us say you are better off doing CAD operations in cad and leaving the slicer to slice.
While the tools are great and work there are always use cases that they don't cover. They do not cover what you want to do. You can only add one dovetail per cut. Something that would be extremely easy to add in a cad package in multiple places.
For your particular instance you could probably rotate the plane of the cut so the dovetail is sideways across both parts but the dovetail will need to be made smaller. Might be enough room to do that. Would need the saved project to experiment with to know for sure.
You could ask for a feature change on github asking them to extend the functionality of the cut tool to say add number of dovetails and spacing of them for the repeat pattern. That doesn't help you in the current immediate situation though and as I say, by the time all these changes are done, you end up with a cad tool that can slice, rather than a slicer.

I appreciate the answer.
I do not expect the tool to be a swiss knife, it was more like 'I probably don't know something'.
If it can't do that, well, that's sad, but I can definitely use CAD for this.
