Is it possible to cut sliced model ?
Hello you knowledgeable people,
PrusaSlicer 2.3.0 on Gentoo Linux here, and newbies on this slicer.
We would very much like to be able to cut some model after slicing, almost the same way it can be done before slicing with the Cut tool. The idea is to be able to see the inside of a (next-to-be) printed part, exactly as if we had printed it all and then used some saw to cut it in two at some angle, but without the saw and waste of material.
Is this possible, at least with a cut plane parallel to the build plate ? We tried to play with the layer slider but found no way to add some « stop print at this layer » command (maybe we did not look long enough).

No direct way to do that.
The Poor Man's approach I would apply:
* Slice the model
* In the Preview, click on the ruler to the right of the model at the height I want to "cut"
I can't think of any way of getting a "slice" that is not parallel to the bed.
* Right click the plus sign and select Add Pause Print.
This way, the print will stop at the appropriate point, so you can abort it without having to sit watching it to catch that moment.

You can do this in ideaMaker. It's a bit clunky but it works well. Load the gcode into ideaMaker and select the Model->Cross section menu option. You can set a starting XYZ plane, and drag the cutaway plane with the little colored axis bar. You can turn off the shaded plane for a clearer view.
This would be a great feature to implement in PrusaSlicer, and definitely worth submitting a feature request on GitHub.

I do something like this semi-frequently, as I want to do a test print of something and want to inspect the results carefully and/or do not want to use more filament than I need to in order to test.
One way, as described, is to slice the model parallel to the build plate and print what is left. That's the 'hard' way.
The 'easy' way is to start the print and abort it from the panel, or just hit the X button, when its at the layer you want.
If you want the 'real hard' way, you could edit the .gcode file with vi and delete everything above the layer you wish to inspect.
The first method also allows you to skip the lower layers and inspect the middle or top of the model if you want.
