Hey everyone,

I've been thinking about a more efficient way to handle layer height adjustments for 3D prints. The current adaptive layer height setting feels a bit cumbersome and often results in significantly increased print times, especially when I only need finer details in a small section of the print.

My idea is to introduce a "Volume Modifier" feature that allows us to set a specific resolution factor for a defined region. For example, if the base layer height is set to 0.3mm, and I select a specific volume with a resolution factor of 2, the layer height within that region would be adjusted to 0.15mm, effectively printing two layers within that zone before continuing with the rest of the model at 0.3mm.

This approach would provide more control and precision where needed without excessively extending the overall print time. Unfortunately, I'm not very experienced in writing complex C++ code, but I’d love to collaborate with someone more knowledgeable who can help bring this idea to life. Any guidance or assistance would be greatly appreciated!

This could indeed work, I'm trying to think if there is a reason why no one has done it before. 

I mean something like support painting would work for this

First of all this is a user to user forum.  If you want to make a feature request then it has to be done at the Prusa Slicer github repo.  That is located here https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues?q=is%3Aissue

Posting here will get you nothing official.  It is a good place to ask questions or even work out the suitable form for a request though.

Secondly before opening a new issue please for the love of little green men or whatever you hold dear do a search.  So many create new issues when one already exists.  And then wonder why they get closed.

For example your request would seem to be covered by these 2.  Of the 2 I'd suggest the older one is more reasoned.

My request intended to start a discussion about that idear. Wasnt reqesting this feature from prusa 🙂
