How to assign default extruder?

The default extruder for Slicer when using the MMU is number 1, but if anyone knows how to change this extruder number, please let me know.

For example

  •  if you want to assign an extruder other than number 1 to a collection of many objects, such as engraving letters,
  • When printing in a single color, I have sometimes printed with a material other than number 1 depending on the amount of filament remaining. If I could change the default, I could prevent making the wrong selection.

It is easier and more accurate to specify it by changing the default extruder number. When using the MMU, it is very time-consuming to switch filaments.

Corycwagner is correct. When the object is set to "Default" extruder it pulls the extruder number from the Multiple Extruders settings page. The only reason it defaults to extruder 1 is because it is set to extruder 1 in the settings page by default.

So if you have multiple models in a project file all set to "Default" on the plater which uses extruder 1 for single color, but you want to change "Default" to extruder 5, then you just have to change the first three Multiple Extruder settings to 5.

In the Print Settings tab, go to "multiple extruders".  There are many defaults for extruders that you can set.

Thanks.

But The advice is not what I need. I only need a way to define the default extruder number, not various default settings for the MMU.

If it's there, please let me know what it is.

The color of the slicer is the same as extruder#1, but I think it should be a different color.

You'll need to zip up your 3mf project file and upload it here. I can't troubleshoot on zero information when I've already shown how it can be done.

I set the Multiple Extruders setting to #3, but the default color is the same as #1.

The color of the sliced G-code is correct.

choose Default

I'm not aware of any way to uncouple that default color from extruder 1's color.
