How do you prevent extruder clicks on large surface prints?

3mf and photos

I've printed this object multiple times with the result being consistent. During the final layers, the extruder would start clicking. It seems to only happen on the edges. Small and high prints are usually fine. It's the large surface prints that produce clicking.

I figured it was because the print warped causing under-extrusions. But it wouldn't be all the final layers. Just the layers that start on the right side. It happens on the first few layers too but it flattens out in the end. Functionally doesn't bother me just visually.

I can't assume it to be a jammed extruder because it would print fine once it got to the center of the print.

Could this be resolved with PrusaSlicer settings?

Regards, Basil

Looks to me, like you are over extruding at the edges, causing the extruder to click because there is not enough room for the extruded material.

This could be because the edges are warping upwards resulting in the nozzle being to close to the previous layer which would not be over extrusion because the extrusion is correct for the layer height but the object is to close to the nozzle due to the warping. Check the bottom of the object to see if it actually warped (or post a photo).

It could also be a problem with the bed leveling, do you have it enabled? If so, which mode, switching to 7x7 might be worth a try.

I doubt that this is a slicer setting problem.

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.
Find out why this is pinned in the general section!

@robin

Thank you, Robin feedback!

Well, I should've tested the warp by tap and feel from the beginning. You're right, it has warped. Very subtle but not subtle enough.

Already have on 7x7 with 5 z-probe measurements. Still happens after.

I'm thinking of trying rectilinear support to prevent edges to lift. It has more structural resistance to bending. and increasing the bed temperature to have better adhesion.

Will be back in a 12 hours or so. Dick/Jason/Tim or Damian?
