Getting wobbly perimeter lines

Hello PrusaSlicer folks,

Using PrusaSlicer (2.9.4) with a Prusa XL 5TH (6.2.6+8948)

Getting strange wobbly lines on the perimeter of my box print (it is a Fusion 360 model exported as STL and add to PS project)

To see if its an issue with printer hardware (tensioning, head alignment, etc...) I recreated a version of the object using PrusaSlicer primitives (just a Box part with a negative volume in the middle) and it printed fine

Any ideas?

(I can provide the .3mf file if need be)

RE: Getting wobbly perimeter lines

The solution is almost in the question.

Please export the “problem part” in STEP format and try again.I suspect you chose a “poor resolution” when creating the STL.

When you say 'choose poor resolution when creating the STL" what do you mean?

I used Fusion360 to create design and used the File:Export menu option

I don't see any way to adjust the resolution

So is STEP format a better export format to use all the time?

RE: Getting wobbly perimeter lines

I just realized that I wanted to add something. I didn't mean exporting directly from the CAD component via this menu from your screenshot, but rather by right-clicking on the relevant object in Fusion360.

The option is called "Create mesh," and then you can adjust the resolution in the settings.

That's what I meant.
