G29 Custom bed area from object position in Start G-code in PrusaSlicer
Hello,
RE: G29 Custom bed area from object position in Start G-code in PrusaSlicer
Hello,
I would like to automatically level bed before every print. It would be practical to probe the bed only in the area that will be occupied by the print. I.e. not the whole bed every time. The G29 command accepts parameters where to level the bed (e.g. G29 L50 R50 F30 B40). I could add such a command in Custom G-code in PrusaSlicer. But I do not know the numbers, that is I don't know the position and size of the sliced object. What placeholders can I use to get the position_x, position_y, size_x and size_y values in order to successfully implement this feature?
Interestingly enough there is the placeholder "scale" that reads the current scale of the object, but there is neither "position" nor "size" variables available...
Would it be possible to add that in the future?

There is a lot of PrusaSlicer placeholders that can be used in generating g-code, but none defining the objects to be printed. Maybe this is best send as a Feature Request on GitHub to make the developers see it.
Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

The entire 7x7 49 point bed leveling procedure takes about 45 seconds. If reduced to 3x3, you might save about 30 seconds. You are probably going to wait longer for bed or nozzle warming. Not sure the savings would be worth the effort.

I imagine that I would use full 7x7 point bed leveling, only on smaller area. That could make the bed leveling more accurate locally.
Edit: just found it on the link you provided: https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/3484
