Frustrated with lack of depth control for painting / multi material
The XL is a great machine being held back by the slicer. The lack of vertical / depth control for colored layers = constant issues with infill bleed through and even just skipping the color layer entirely. The horizontal depth controls, on the other hand, have been working great. The thread in github could use some more poking if you agree.

If someone has a solution or knows of another slicer that has better vertical control of multimaterial (and can import colored 3mf files), please add it to this thread.
A more broad solution might be tools allowing us to edit the sliced gcode view directly with a visual interface.
Prusa should never have introduced colour painting in the first place, it belongs in CAD, not the slicer.
I understand the desire to offer a last chance for colouring to those who have downloaded a plain file for which they have gaudy intentions but this is almost always better achieved by old fashioned sanding, priming and painting.
The original post in the github thread shows a buch of prints that are NOT 3D, they are just thick 2D and would be trivial to print as stickers or transfers on a 2D printer and then if necessary attached to a thicker substrate.
Cheerio,

You might want to check out Cura, it's pretty easy to use. Cura also has a bunch of advanced settings that might help with your specific needs. It supports 3MF files and has a large community to support and provide plugins.
