feature request: open multiple files at once in one window (on windows os)

I just selected five stl files from a directory in windows file explorer, hit enter, and five copies of pslicer started up with one part in each.

Would it be asy to have them all open in one psclier window?  Is it even possible in windows OS?  I know that doing this from ctrl-O in pslicer will do what I want, but I'm lazy and when I see the stl files in the folder it is so easy to just select and open them.

I am not familiar with Windows but this would be considered the correct behavior in most operating systems.  The usual command line structure would offer a list of files to the program in turn.  It's up to the OS whether to serialise or to open them in parallel.  What you are asking for is the equivalent of concatenating the files before opening.

To open multiple files at once, first open the slicer then, from the file menu select import - now select multiple files and they will open together.

Cheerio,

From "within" prusaslicer it works fine

I got used to starting Prusaslicer first and import STLs then. You can multi-select and import as much as you like in parallel then.

This variant works regardless of Windows, Linux or Mac. 🙂

Once PS is open and running you can also drag and drop multiple stl files onto the software, at least on windows OS.

RE: Thanks to all

So the window os doesn't send a list to an app?  Oh well.  And thanks for the drag-drop trick.

Edit:  Windows *does* send a list of files to the app.  I just tested with a random program, Gimp, and it worked fine.  So my feature request stands.  Pruaslicer should support this.

This is not the place to request features, it’s mainly a user to user forum. All feature requests should be made at the Prusa slicer GitHub project. After carefully checking it’s not already been made of course. There are around 1700 open issues and requests there after all.

Also I’m not at the computer to test at the moment (and I don’t have stl files associated to PS anyway) but do you have the multiple instance option enabled in PS ?  If it’s turned off does that effect how it loads the files at all ?

I tried changing it to only allow one instance.  In this mode it only opened one instance of pslicer, but it only showed the first file selected.

This is too minor to be put in github issues, imho.
