Feature Request - Export STL with Supports for Single Model

Small quality of life feature request, in addition to the "Export plate as STL with supports" option I would like to be able to right-click a model and "Export as STL with supports". The context menu option "Export as STL" doesn't include supports and the File -> Export... option only does the entire plate. Obviously the option doesn't have to be in the context menu, but a single model option would be excellent.

That's All!

David feature requests should be made at https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/

While the occasional developer does post here the github site is the official place to ask for new features or report software issues.  Its far more likely to be seen there.

When you export the 3MF, all of the settings to generate supports are included, so anyone using the 3MF gets what they need and pressing slice is all that is needed.

The 3mf files are great but my use-case isn't regarding sharing settings, rather it's a workflow issue I'm having. In my case, I'm using a non-Prusa resin printer so there's a workflow of: add supports to model in Prusa Slicer -> import to chitubox -> orient and slice -> import .photon to Photon File Validator to verify zero overhangs or dangling pixels -> go back to software where you added supports to fix the inevitable missing overhangs -> rinse wash repeat multiple times per model and of course you're doing a whole plate of models.  I can't do the whole layout in Prusa Slicer because there seems to be a bug with exporting mirrored objects with supports where all of the normals get inverted so it forces me to operate on model at a time in Prusa Slicer which is fine, or would be if I could export one model at a time with supports. As it is, I just open multiple instances of the app which works but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask for one little menu item 🙂

Incidentally, I'm using Prusa Slicer for the supports because it seems their automatic support generation may be the best out there currently.

Funny you should say that because I fight irregular supports all the time.  They seem to go where they aren't needed or entirely miss the area I am trying to support... lol.

But, a sliced object is no longer a vectored object; it has been rasterized, and therefore an STL can no longer represent it.  So what you are asking for is probably not going to happen.

As for Slicer inverting faces?  That doesn't sound right.  I'd chase down what's happening there and fix the problem rather than finding work-a-rounds.

ps: and where is the mirror command in P.Slicer?

Right-click on a model -> Mirror -> choose plane to mirror across

Sorry, I may not be communicating clearly. My workflow has me slicing and running a tool against the sliced model looking for missing supports, then I go back to the Prusa Slicer to add the missing supports. There is already an "Export plate as STL including supports" option under the File menu that works great, I'm just hoping to get a version of that under the object context menu so I can export a single supported model. I don't use Prusa Slicer for slicing since (afaik) it doesn't output .photon files.

Prusa Slicer definitely isn't perfect, it misses obvious overhangs at times and places supports on areas that aren't needed. But despite all that it's better than the alternatives!

Happy Printing!

That export option appears to be only for tree supports.  So you must be using an SL1 or similar SLA process printer. That's a different context use-case than where I am coming from.
