extruding during a z hop retraction

When my printer does a z hop retraction it actually extrudes filament instead of retracting. Any ideas on whats going on? I am using marlin 1.1.5, the printer is home built. Retractions work fine on S3D, I am try to make the switch over to prusa slicer.

Hi Daniel,
we have no idea what your printer looks like, so it's difficult to comment.

if your printer is Bowden feed, then 1mm retraction is probably on the low side,
if your printer is direct drive, them 1mm may be over the top for ideal retraction.
how are you identifying the Zhop retraction feeding filament?

Pictures often help,
Maybe whole printer,
closeup of extruder and
example of issue.

What the I just typed in a long edit to my last post and the site said, time expired for edit and deleted what I wrote 🙁

OKay ! it is a direct drive authentic E3D titan. My printer is a standard cartesian style with prusa movements. What I see happening is that when the printer moves to a retraction step it extruder a really fast a blob instead of retracting. On my Simplified 3D profile everything prints fine.
