Extreme Stringing issues using prusaslicer but not with online generated Gcode (possibly G92 E0 Command related)

Hello,

I recently got a Sovol SV06 plus and have been trying to get it setup. When printing my first test prints with PLA I noticed a large amount of stringing. I did a temp tower and selected the best value then tried some retraction tests with the gcode generated by this site: https://teachingtechyt.github.io/calibration.html#retraction. The majority of the tests looked pretty good so I copied their settings that worked best. Unfortunately these settings still lead to a large ammount of stringing using prusaslicer (and also cura)

When I review the Gcode for differences one thing I notice that is present on the Gcode generated online is that it includes the G92 E0 command before each retraction. Is it possible to configure prusaslicer to include this command as well? Can you think of anything else that may be causing this issue?

Quick Update, It appears that the G92 E0 command has nothing to do with this, and is related to relative vs absolute positioning. I'm still at a loss at what could be causing this.

When I review the Gcode the:

pathing is identical

speed and temp are identical

retraction settings commands are identical.

But I have vastly different results.

I'm still at a loss as to what I can do for this. This link has the Gcode if anyone wants to take a peak at the two different outputs.

Did you found a solution ? I have a SV-06, I'm pretty happy with but I have a lot of stringing but I don't understand why...

I'm also interested in reducing stringing and was looking at the G-code you provided.  I only looked at the motion, but I see these differences: the online generated G-code performs a retraction, then moves to the other tower.  The Prusaslicer generated G-code performs a short move (is this a wipe?) across already existing filament, then performs a retraction, then moves to the other tower.  I used the G-code viewer in Prusaslicer to see these differences.

I'm not sure if this helps you (it's a fairly old post), but it might, if you are still facing this problem.

If your stringing looks like the picture provided by the OP, dry your filament.

Cheerio,

Hi Everyone, thanks for the responses. I gave up on determining the exact root cause of this issue a few months ago. Diem, it was not a filament issue, as the same filament / printer on the same day was used for all of those tests. the only changes were in the gcode. I ended up foregoing the teachingtech tools and just changed settings myself until I was able to reduce the stringing. I don't remember the exact values that I changed but I was able to eliminate it within prusaslicer.
