External Perimeter Inside Part

Hey Everyone,

I have a part with dimples on a vertical surface. When I slice, some dimples are as you'd expect - continuations of the external and other perimeters. Others are inexplicably split by two external perimeters, leaving  the top-half of the dimple not attached (both in the slicer and actual print). I've searched as best I can, but I don't even know what other terminology I can use to describe this issue.

We would need your project file to be able to give any meaningful answer.  Its likely to be an issue with the model but with just pictures thats just a wild ass guess.

Confirm the problem exists when you slice then use File>Save Project As in Prusa Slicer.  That will save a project file.  It will be of type .3mf   A 3mf project from PS will contain not only the model but all your settings, any modifiers, model placement etc.  Its a complete snapshot, and is very useful for debugging issues as it allows anyone to slice in exactly the same manner you are.

Take that 3mf file and ZIP it up, then attach it to a reply here.  The forum only accepts a limited range of file attachments.  If you don't zip it up the forum will simply not attach it.  No warning , it just wont.  As the edit window is also very short it is best to confirm it actually attached immediately afterwards.

I tried to add the .3mf originally, but didn't know the zip trick and subsequently failed.

You're bang on with the solution. I double-checked the model, and there's a revolve axis which is <1* off normal. Too small to tell by eye.

I'm new to printing, but now I guess I can trust the slicer. Thanks muchly.

That will do it. Glad you found the issue.
