Exporting sliced body for outsourced printing

Hi All,

I'm working on a project in which I am printing an exposed volume of gyroid infill. Currently, I'm importing a body into slicer and simply removing the necessary layers and perimeters to expose the infill. I've finished prototyping on the MK3 and intend to print a rugged version using outsourced SLS. Am I able to export the sliced model, which includes the infill, in someway that could be printed by other standard machines (specifically sls)?

Thanks for any help,

Zach

RE: Exporting sliced body for outsourced printing

PrusaSlicer offers "Export tool paths as .OBJ" of sliced models. While I have found use of this as a way to export from slicer for reference in a 3D program, it's far from ideal for exporting a sliced model to send to a vendor. the files are huge and broken into splines.

It would be best if you just added your features in a 3D program and send that to your vendor, slicer is not a modeling program.

I would bring the gyroid cube from thingiverse into a modeling program, tile it, and build your piece that way. You will have actual polygons to work with and can create a clean .stl that you can send to the professional printer for any kind of printer technology.
