Enforce MAXIMUM perimeters in an area
Hi, I am new to prusaslicer and am wondering if there is a way to achieve this:
In this part, I want to have many outer perimeters for strength, but around this slot the minimum perimeter count for the slot is interfering with the outer wall perimeters and effectively reducing the total wall count. I tried to use modifier meshes with lower perimeter count, but that is only a minimum and does not change the result. Is there a way to enforce a MAXIMUM wall count?
See image below and thanks in advance
RE: Enforce MAXIMUM perimeters in an area
Go to Print Settings > Layers and Perimeters. Enable External Perimeters First to ensure the outer perimeters are not affected by the minimum number of perimeters in the slot.
That sounds correct. Of course I don't know the numbers involved but it looks as if you have set a minimum of 8 for the slot and where they interact with the adjacent wall it is counting tangential perimeters there as those after 5 of its own count. There is no quick way to enforce a maximum, the slicer will usually stop at the minimum but you must also turn off 'Extra perimeters if needed', 'Extra perimeters on overhangs' and 'Ensure vertical shell thickness'; 'Detect thin walls' is likely to have some effect too.
Where the two sets of external perimeters intersect there is no room to remove perimeters to effect a maximum without compromising the inner minimum or indenting the outer shell. What are you trying to achieve?
If you would like someone to check it out save your project as a .3mf file

Zip the .3mf and post it here. It will contain both your part and your settings for us to diagnose.
Cheerio.
