Different Layer heights for specific parts of an object using modifiers - possible?

Hi All,

I'm trying to get a smoother finish on only 2 sections of a screw-top container. The yellow sections represent the modifiers I added for the sections I would like to have smaller layer heights compared to the rest of the container.

My hope is to reduce the layer height in just these 2 sections for a smoother finish. Is this possible and if so, could someone please explain how I would do this?

Many thanks in advance!

Gunter

The area of the thread is easy. You can either right-click and add a height range modifier, then specify the range in which you'd like a different layer height.

Or you can use the Variable Layer Height button on the toolbar:

Th area on the right is a different story. To my knowledge, there's no way to change layer height restricted to the area of a modifier, only across the whole object.
