Different layer height in support material with single extruder?
I've been elected to print Mandalorian cosplay gear for 4 grandkids and one son. I'm expecting this to take months and a LOT of filament. My son gets to do all the sanding and finishing and painting since that's the fun part! (LOL on him!)
I just sliced a helmet and it reports a 3+ day print and almost a full spool of filament. Just the support material alone is almost a 1/4 of a spool that goes in the trash and adds over 8 hours to the job. I tweaked the overhang threshold and cut it down to 5 added hours but I run the risk of things going wrong at the end of a long print.
I plan to print at .16mm layer height with a .4mm nozzle but what I would really like to be able to do is print the support material at like .24mm layers to save filament and perhaps maybe cut a little time off as well. I only have a single extruder on a custom built 300x300x350 and I'm using PrusaSlicer 2.9.1 for Mac.
(I want that 5 tool XL so bad I can't see straight! It would be awesome to use soluble filament for supports!)
Thanks!

Rou could try combining infill every two layers to speed things !
I don't think you can change the support layer height

I’ve printed several mando helmets, instead of using the angle learn how to manually paint areas. You can get away with a lot less support than you would think. Also sometimes creative orientation can also reduce the amount needed but of course that depends on your bed size.
As for the support, PRUSA slicer automatically uses adaptive height on support anyway so it will already be doing that for you.
if you post a saved PRUSA slicer project file (file save project as) then we can take a look and make suggestions. To attach a file you need to zip it up or the forum will just silently not attach it m
