Depth of an anchor ?

Depth of an anchor ?

Hello,

Could someone tell me if it is possible to modify in PrusaSlicer the depth of the anchor of a surface? I have this little pin that naturally prints on the surface of the previous layer. The problem is that this makes it fragile, because it is only stuck to the previous layer.

I would like this little pin to start printing its perimeter much earlier, say about ten layers before so that it is well anchored (fused) in the lower layers, and therefore much stronger?

Is this possible ?I haven't found an answer. I tried to modulate the print by adding modifiers, but changing the layer height, fill or perimeter does not solve the problem apparently.

Thank you for your help !

Add a very small negative volume modifier inside the pin that extends into the base of the model. That way slicer will add perimeters around the void.  By sizing the modifier you can control where the perimeters are generated.
The only difficulty is actually placing the modifier as PRUSA has not implemented an X-ray/transparency function to make placing modifiers inside parts easier.
It’s why we usually do it in cad.

Well, I didn't know this technique, thank you! 👍

On the other hand, it's true that it's a real pain to position, and I have 8 to do like that...

I drew this part on Fusion 360 (it's a support for tools in my workshop) If you have the technique to grind directly the design file, I'm interested!

Thanks,

If you designed the part then you can easily add in voids where you want them.  Fusion has enough tutorials that you should be able to find one detailing how to make a void in an otherwise solid part.  I don t use F360 so I cant tell you how to do it in that, if you used Blender, things would be different 🙂  Now that I could tell you how to do lol.

Okay,Well, I found it.

In the end I converted my squares into circles, it was easier to create a symmetrical void. I drilled a 0.1mm hole in the center to force the PrusaSlicer to generate a perimeter. This is probably not the most academic way but it works. I tried Blender, but it's way too complicated for me 😉

Thanks !
