Cut tool create distortion

I was printing this, it was a 4 day printing and got a power outage when there was maybe a day and a half left. I don't want to lost the whole thing. Im trying to cut the part so it start printing where it stop but for some reason I got a distortion at the area touching the bed. The cut is 88.4 keeping the upper part. am I missing something or there's a better way to achieve what I want. Thanks for the help

I would be interested in seeing what you come up with.  I first tried this on a large 1/37 scale rocket part.  I failed.  I have tried it several times since and could get it right.  I have since ceased trying.  I just could never get the perfect spot to start.  It never starts right at the beginning of a level.

You will have to be more specific by what you mean as distortion.  I loaded in your project and cut it at 88.4 and the resulting top section looks normal.  Its a perfectly flat plane that touches the bed evenly in the first layer.  Where is it distorting ?

Using Windows 10 and PS2.3.1 it didn't do that for me.  Sometime saving as a project and loading a file back in can 'fix' an issue like this.  I suspect it has to do with math precision and the different way a 3mf is saved compared to a stl file.

Try loading in your saved 3mf and then cutting at 88.4.  If not I have attached a project with the top cut at 88.4 that you can load in.

Thank You! I even try to create a new file but have the same error, maybe is a bug in the Mac version because I have the 2.3.1 too. I open your file and WALA looks perfect! Thanks again!

You will have a part completed layer to match and your new first layer will have elephant's foot, or elephant's foot compensation complicating the interface.

Try starting from two layers lower then place a sheet of fine grit sandpaper on a flat surface and sand both parts back a little 'til you get a match.

Cheerio,
