Create Custom Printer Bundle

I manage a student maker space and we have a wide range of 3d printers each is connected to Octoprint and one requires custom start g-code.

What I am looking for is a way to truly have an all in one import bundle that the kids could install that would populate both the printers and physical printers with the correct settings in Prusa Slicer. Currently, I have a configuration bundle but the kids still have to go select each of the base printers through the assistant for them to show and I have to add the custom start code to every print quality for the CR-10.

My perfect world would be install prusa--  import a bundle/config-- go. Or install prusa-- copy over a folder that contains all the printers directly into the Prusa slicer configuration folder.  I think one solution is to create each printer as a custom printer by detaching dependencies. Then I can modify settings. Would this allow me to have a configuration bundle that contains each printer? I hope to find the answer before I do that work. If there is another solution please let me know.

Printers- Cr-10s W/Custom start G-code, Makergear M3, and 2 prusa Minis.

Thanks,

Andrew Connelly

Your solution should work OK - you would still have to select the desired printer from the dropdown and I suggest you incorporate the printer name in the output gcode filename...  this is already the default 'though many users edit it out to shorten file names.

For more control you could have all instances access the same configurations by symlinking to a NAS hosted, shared directory.

Cheerio,
