Cosntant velocity in vase mode

Hello,

I am trying to print this in vase mode and would love to be able to print it at a constant speed

I have searched online, but couldn't find any information

Anyway i can make that possible with prusa slicer?

Yes there are various ways.  I'm not sure why its printing so variably without seeing your settings though.  If you had attached a project file (file>Save Project as) from PS then attached a zipped up 3mf here we could check.

In the meantime here is an attached project as an example of one of the many ways to do so.

I basically just turned on vase mode, increase the speed for the external perimeter and disabled auto cooling.

But here is the requested file

You  have dynamic overhang speed enabled.  Its one of those expert level settings that is on by default for some reason.

I should also point out that with a 0.4mm nozzle and an extrusion width of 0.45mm that it wont be particularly strong.  Up the extrusion width for external perimeters to some thing between 0.6-0.8 and it will be much more sturdy.  A 0.4mm nozzle will quite happily print at those widths when doing a vase mode print.

Thank you, that did the trick for me.

But how come that is affecting the print speed, there is clearly no overhangs in this print

and thanks for the suggestions, will try them as well!

RE: Constant velocity in vase mode

Yes there are overhangs for the purposes of that function.  Read the tooltip descriptions of the settings.  With a vertical wall then 100% of the perimeter is sitting on the perimeter below.  As you do a slope, then less of the perimeter above sits on the perimeter below, the steeper the slope then the less % they overlap.  The traditional 'blue' coloured feature on the preview key is when its a specific value of overhang but anything off 100% vertical is a slight over hang.  The Dynamic overhang speed is also a new feature and many don't realise what it does.  Also the traditional feature key of overhand isn't really tied to this new function at all.  It was tacked on after the fact.

As I also pointed out with a 0.45mm extrusion width on that model it wont be very strong, that's because there are many sections where the overlap is not that much.  On the preview you can see the background colour through the perimeters from certain angles.  Funnily enough those match the different print speeds that the dynamic overhang speed picks up.
