Hi Joan - Thanks for your reply.  I'm using a single extruder printer (Elegoo Neptune 3 Pro) and PrusaSlicer to try this print.

I'd like the logo to extrude a bit if possible.  Maybe .5 in or so.

Try This
Coke Can

this print uses virtual extruders. 
I have never tried it on an elegoo. 
if it's anything like a Prusa, you should start the print with Any colour loaded in the extruder
the print will start and then do a colour change. 
Change to red. 
the printer will print up to the first layer containing Black where it will request a colour change
the printer should then print two layers of black and request a colour change
two layers of red and request a colour change... etc
until the Black is finished, then it should print red to the top

OP must be desperate to try that... 🙂 That's 441 M600 color swaps....  😢

It's just not a good model to do multicolor unless you have an MMU or toolchanger.

I was thinking about printing the text separately and then inserting it into cutouts in the can but with the curvature of the text that may not come out great. Maybe with supports from the back, as the backside of the text will be hidden anyway.

I thought about that route as well.  Can't figure out how to match the logo curvature with the can curvature.  Once I match up the two, can I export the curved logo as an stl that can be printed separately?

I moved the cylinder into my 3d Program,  Copied and pasted a copy into the same place, then moved one copy 70mm to the side
opened the SVG, as a solid,
Deleted the centres of the O and the E's 
then rotated and scaled the Coke logo, to the desired size. 
Moved it to intersect the shell of the cylinder then I used the 'Cut Intersecting parts tool' to keep the parts which are in both the cylynder and the logo
this left me with a curved shell of the coke logo
I moved the logo forward 0.5mm and widened it 1mm (as the curvature follows the tin, the edges get progressively closer to the tin, so widening the logo reduces that effect. 

Having arrived at the desired effect, I selected the can and exported it as an STL, then I selected the Logo, and saved it as an STL
These STL's retained relative potions in space. 

when I Imported the STL's I added the can first, then right clicked on the can, and chose add part from file, and loaded the logo. this caused the slicer to add the logo in the correct relationship to the can, 

after this I chose the preferred colours and set up manual colour printing...
