Changing wall printing direction every layer in Prusa Slicer?

Hi everyone,

I'm new on the forum, I'm Julien Sourice, working for Nanoe. It's a french company that proposes Zetamix, a ceramic or metal loaded filament to be printed on any FDM printer. These filament can be debinded and sintered to get alumina, zirconia or 316L dense parts.

Everything is working well at the moment, ceramic filament is being supplied for one year now and our customers are very happy with it. But we want more control over the printer parameters than most of the slicer can offer, for many reasons I will not develop here. And while we mostly print on Raise3D system, we do own some mk3 and they work like a charm while printing Zetamix.

So here it is, a bottle at the sea for the Prusa community ! Maybe someone can help us, here is one scenario :

  • I'm printing a square base tower, 3mm sided, 100% infill. Our Zetamix printing condition are almost the same as any type of regular plastic filament, except printing temp is much lower and overlap from the infill on the walls is fat as f***.
  • Now the problem : I want the wall to be printed alternatively in clockwise and anti clockwise direction every layer.

Do you have any idea how to do that, natively or not, on Prusa slicer ? We already have a backup plan by manipulating the gcode itself, but as you know it would be a freacking pain.

Thank you very much and feel free to ask me more informations if you need so ! Our new french website is not fully translated yet, but if you feel so, come get a touch of Molière style ceramic and metal 3D printing ! https://nanoe.com/zetamix-impression-3d/ . However we post a lot of english news, use case from our customer, and many other great stuff on our Linkedin page : https://www.linkedin.com/company/nanoe

Best regards,

Julien

Hi Julien,

it may be a good idea to post a query on the Prusa Slicer Git hub page, where the developers hang out.
regards Joan

I'm also new in this community. We recently purchased zetamix alumina filament to print with prusa mk3S+. However the filament seems very brittle and breaks frequently. And also cold extrusion seems difficult to enable. Did you print the Alumina zetamix filament with Prusa MK3S? If so, it would be very much helpful for me if you kindly mention how did you overcome the issues.

Hi Jubayer,

Can you please send me an email at j.sourice"at"nanoe.com ?

Then we will help you with this extrusion problem.

To those who are experiencing problems with alternate wall direction, we switched to IdeaMaker few years ago as it natively provides these type of advanced printing technics for highly loaded filament.

Best,

Julien
