Cannot get rid of stringing

Hi and thanks for your help.
PS 2.4.1 Beta1

I'm battling to get rid of stringing. I used this page from TeachingTech to print a stringing tower. Is has no stringing at all with best results @ 6mm retraction distance and 40mm/sec retraction speed. The stringing tower was printed with PLA @ 190C.

BUT, when I use 6mm retraction, 40mm/s & 190C in PS, it strings like hel. What else can I check/change?

I don't know how to replicate the Gcode from the non-stringing tower to PS. I will really appreciate your advice.

I have had good results from these settings recommended by @Bobstro:

Retraction length is set to 0.2mm Lift Z is set to 0mm Retraction speed is set to 50mm/s Deretraction speed is set to 25mm/s

Mk3S+,SL1S

Thanks very much. I will give it a try.

RE: Cannot get rid of stringing

@deonholt Most importantly, you didn't specify what printer, filament, etc you're using! So everything is going to be guess work.

For a direct drive printer such as the Mk3S, 6mm retraction is WAY too much. For a Bowden printer such as an Ender 3, more reasonable.

TeachingTech — I've never used that site before so I don't know how good the results are. In Prusaslicer, you can edit retraction length, speed, Lift Z etc, in Printer Settings>Extruder 1>Retraction. Some settings will only be visible if you're in Advanced or Expert mode.

Also remember that the Filament Settings may override what is set in Printer Settings, under Filament Settings>Filament Overrides!
