Cannot click any buttons in main Prusaslicer Window

Hey guys,

Apologies if this is me being dumb (I got my first printer yesterday) but all of a sudden in Prusaslicer, I can no longer click any buttons within the "3D modelling" part of the window.

Settings such as print settings, filament settings etc can be adjusted no problem - but any button within the 3D Display area is simply not clickable. It started about 20 minutes ago - I cannot move models, flip them, rotate them, switch between slice view and the other view (Bottom left of the window)

The buttons are simply unresponsive.

I have tried to reboot my machine and also reinstall prusaslicer.

I have a M1 Apple Mac Pro 13 inch running Big Sur.  Prusa Slicer says its version 2.2.0+ - when I check for updates it says none are available.

Am I stuck in some modifier mode or is this a bug? I attach a screenshot. The buttons in red I cannot click (Even after importing STL etc)

Everything else is fine.

Well the only button from your screenshot available is the import model button. Without a model on the rest won’t be accessible. I know you said even with a model on the plater but that’s not what the screen shot shows.
Humour me and add a stl file and post another screen shot with the buttons greyed out still.

Also once you have added a model and it doesn’t work could you save the project and then zip up the resulting 3mf file and attach the zip file here. With the project we should be slicing with the same settings you are using and if there’s a problem with the profiles or model you are using we should experience the same problem.
If there’s a problem with the install then it should work normally for someone else.

I'll do you one better, here is a video!

I've also noticed that the slicer seems to lose all of my config now when I quit it. Bed size, layer height, all settings are gone when I quit and I have to reimport them (which happens a lot now since I can't get out of slice mode or anything!)

This all worked fine until just before I made this thread...then all of a sudden those buttons just stopped responding and the slicer started losing all my settings every time I quit...

Also some of the buttons would still be unavailable with a model loaded. Those buttons will become available/enabled once a model(s) is selected first.

I figured it out.  I have no idea why it suddenly stopped working, but it was something to do with my mouse.

I noticed other weirdness with my cursor; Drop down menus in web pages not opening on mouse hover etc. So then I thought I need to update my drivers... And when I searched it, loads of stuff came up with people saying the mouse works unreliably with Macs.  I switched for a different mouse and now it works as expected!

The problematic mouse was a RAT7 gaming mouse.

Thanks for everyones brain cycles thats looked at this!

@delarado are you developing a profile for the EasyThreeD X1? I am curious to see how you progress with it if so.

Sure thing Bob! I Have a Prusa on order so have been toying with the X1 to familiarise myself with the slicer software while I wait - My first 3D print was 2 days ago!

Happy to discuss my experiences, I feel a bit apprehensive talking about another manufacturer on the Prusa forums though! Or would that totally be in the spirit of this place?

Actual clones of Prusa printer have been discussed at length, so I don't think a discussion of a $150 gadget printer is much of a threat. I respect your decision to go with a training printer while you await your Prusa. I think you'll have both a good grounding in the software, 3d printing in general, and the positive aspects of the Prusa printers specifically by the time it arrives.

If you don't mind, post a couple of test print pics. Just drag pics to the edit box to insert. I'd love to see what that little gadget can produce.
