CAD like view rotation and movement
First of all, thank you for all the great printers!
However, could you add option to switch / customize the rotation keys in Prusa Slicer? I'm used to fusion 360 (maybe I customized it myself, I'm not sure). But using left mouse button is extremely uncomfortable. You can move the object instead of rotating the view. In fusion 360 I have middle mouse to move (pan) and the shift + middle mouse to rotate (drag).
I found older thread that once you are zoomed in on an object, you actually can not rotate the view (which is quite funny ...).
The github threads that where linked are mostly about center of rotation and how to actually do it. But there was a mention to implement fusion 360 system (I also like it and I'm used to it). Is there at least a goal of making the option for the rotation keys? This have to a most requested feature for the last 4 years (or more)
My research was short, so please if there is a way to change the view rotation keys let me know.
RE: CAD like view rotation and movement
Had a project with lots of crevasses to manually paint and the 'cant rotate on zoom' got me to just buy a space mouse. afaik, it's either that, code your own fix, or continue waiting patiently.

RE:
I don't know if this is what your looking for?, or maybe it's related to the operating system being used? I use Windows, since at least PrusaSlicer-2.6.0-alpha2+win64 you have been able to hold down the Ctrl key, ( Ctrl + Left mouse button) to rotate without having to be over the plater. This also works with any of the Gizmos active as well, you can while still holding down the Ctrl key, Pan with the RMB, Zoom using the Mouse wheel in and out and so on, although you don't need to hold it down to pan and zoom.
I use as many as 5 different 3D Cadd software's they are all a bit different and yes I cuss them sometimes because I forget what one I'm in and use a wrong shortcut, but that's life I would like to see customizable Shortcuts in PS
Hope this helps you,
P.S. I'd really love to see a shortcut for "Drop to bed" that would be life changing for my Slicer usage 😉
RE: CAD like view rotation and movement
Thank you both for answers. Ctrl+RMB might help in some situations, but as you mentioned snuffleupagus, it's crazy to use different view manipulation shortcuts. (this one is the worst)
And baconFase you mentioned coding it. I'm mediocre programer at least so the option of fixing it myself is kind of interesting. So you are suggesting to make a fork? Or is there an way for customization of the prusa slicer? The issue I see is that even if I fix this version, it might not work in the next version, and the search for the place where to make the change is difficult. Did you coded some feature in prusa slicer before?
RE: CAD like view rotation and movement
I'm no programmer, just someone who has used a small useful fork before. If you've got the time and ability then more power to ya.

I don't know if there is a keyboard shortcut for "Drop to bed", but there is a context icon that does this. If you have selected an object that is even partially below the bed, or an object's part that is above or below the bed an icon will show up to the right of the object/part position coordinates.
Click on this icon and it will move the bottom of the bounding box (in the current orientation) to the bed and the icon will vanish. I also use this to verify that objects and/or parts are on the bed because the icon doesn't show if the selected object/part is on the bed.
