Brim as a modifier?

Is there a modifier to add a brim to a specific section only?

I currently have a print, similar to a medieval arch, which lifts at one specific corner, which could be alleviated with a brim. However, using a brim for the whole print would be unnecessary.

Best Answer by Neophyl:

No there isn't.  Usual way is to use a helper disc/mouse ear on the area.

A Paint-on brim option, similar to the paint-on supports, seams, and colors, would be a very useful feature indeed. At the moment, you can use mouse ears as suggested by Neophyl or check out https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/prusaslicer/is-it-possible-to-have-a-selective-brim/ for more advanced approaches.

I would also love to have a brim modifier and be able to apply brim only on some sections on the part.

I hope it's clear what I did to get this fidget thingo printing. I knew the little boops around the outside would be a problem.

So, copy the part, paste it over itself, use neg vol where you don't want brim, apply brim, ignore the 'conflict yada yada', brim only where I want.

This video is a brilliant masterclass on creative brims. I never liked using mouse ear objects because the object perimeter would follow the outside of the mouse ear object.

Are you the video author (different handles on different platforms), or just a fan?

@sembazuru

I'm not the author, I am a fan. However it's a bit more complicated then that. I used to be an employee of the author, and over the years became his friend.

He's not always good in social situations and was banded from these forums, I tend to post his work because I think it's valuable to everyone.

I will pass your opinion on to him as I feel the same as you 🙂 , or you can do it on his YouTube channel. I know hes not doing it for money, but loves likes and subscribes and community interaction.

I've already liked that video and subscribed to his channel. I'll be watching the other two videos that he has up soon.
