Brick Layers
Does anyone have Brick Layers working in PS?
RE: Brick Layers
Not familiar with that function name. What exactly are you referring to.
RE: Brick Layers
Probably this:
RE: Brick Layers
That function does not exist in Prusa slicer. It was introduced into super slicer and orca took it from there.
RE: Brick Layers
The video mentions a script that can be added in PrusaSlicer: https://github.com/TengerTechnologies/Bricklayers
I have not tried this.
RE: Brick Layers
OK, I'm a little surprised there's been so little interest. I tried to implement the process from this github page: https://github.com/GeekDetour/BrickLayers . It implements a Python post-processing script to parse gcode files and generate brick layers. My issue is that it can never find either Python itself or the script (not sure which).
Honestly, I was thinking some people must have tried it and, hopefully, at least one got it working, so I could piggyback on their experience.
RE: Brick Layers
Some years ago I used a prost-processing script for Arc Welder in PrusaSlicer, but then I switched to using the arc-welder plugin on OctoPrint. I am using Linux, the github page I mentioned seems to be targeted at Windows users, the other one gives examples for all platforms. On Linux it works if you enter the whole path for the executable(s) into the configuration. Should be also valid for Windows environments.
As to why I haven't tried it yet: so far I am content with the strength of the parts I have printed. Not everyone breaks prints as a hobby like Stefan. 🙂

This. I can certainly see use cases for it but personally have little need for it. I'd rather that after all those years PS gave me the option to draw straight seam lines without having to resort to undocumented features.

RE: Brick Layers
Can't disagree with anything you say. Mostly I wanted to try it, see what it can do. I'm no longer getting the error (after redoing the Output Options entry) but it also doesn't seem to do anything. Checking exported gcode file just seems to show regular old layering.
RE: Brick Layers
Oh, BTW, Stefan only got about a 10% improvement in strength with PETG, so......
RE: Brick Layers
Now I'm on a PC and not my phone and have seen the video I was getting it mixed up with alternate extra layers setting from SuSi/Orca. I'm like the others, can't really see the point of it at the moment.
It's like a lot of the new stuff, just doesn't offer enough of an advantage (like the scarf seams which make mine look worse) to be worth tinkering with. I'll probably try it if they add it natively but until then got too much other stuff to be doing.
RE: Brick Layers
exactly what I'm thinking. Too much work for 10%.
