Black outline on edges to prevent invisible features from certain angles
Hi. Prusa Slicer is lovely and great, but it does one thing poorly: Clearly showing edges on 3D models. If you're viewing an edge perfectly perpendicular, all the edges disappear. Seeing as it's quite normal to have edges / text be straight up / down / front from the model, this is quite annoying. A simple thin black outline would solve this problem.
The image below shows a model viewed from an angle, and the same model viewed straight from the top. As you can see, all the edges disappear and the model looks blank.

Hi this is a user to user forum. Prusa Dev's rarely if ever interact here. If you want to report a bug or make a feature request then you have to do that at the official Prusa Slicer github repo. That is located here https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues
Before opening an issue though please do a comprehensive search with as many possible relevant terms as there are over 4700 Open issues. If you do open a new one then please follow all the guidelines to do so.
I should point out that the request already exists and has for a LOOOONG time https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/4766 - this one opened in 2020 for example.
RE: Black outline on edges to prevent invisible features from certain angles
Thanks for the tip! I saw a similar comment in another thread and created an issue before I read this reply by you.
I did a quick search before posting but couldn't find any of the other posts, I guess I didn't search well enough. Is it bad manners to leave that issue open now that I know that duplicates exist? Or is it helpful for the devs to show that there still is a need for such a feature? (Not sure why I'm asking you but you seem to know a bit about software engineering <3)
RE: Black outline on edges to prevent invisible features from certain angles
Usually the devs will close duplicates. If they have time. Unfortunately they seem to be very busy and given the number of open issues its easy to see why. Adding to the existing open issues is normal though and will put them to the 'top' again if you sort by most recently updated.
There are some open ones that have been there for years and on the face of it should be easy to resolve though. For example this function is already part of Orca so they could port that change back to PS. The priority list is completely opaque which causes frustration to some people. Myself included some days.
Hey a successful social media campaign targeting Jo would probably get something done though it seems lol.

Thanks for the input, I'll leave the issue open then!
Slightly off topic, but it seems like Prusa is consistently sliiightly understaffed, that there are a lot of small (relatively simple) things that just don't get done. But a lot of small things all build up to make a noticeable difference. Makes me wonder if they shouldn't just hire a small junior "fix small things" team that deal with all the long-lasting issues that aren't critical, but that have been around for years. I don't know, just wanting what's best for Prusa -> European manufacturing -> indirectly me as a European citizen.
