Adding embedded nuts to models - Not sure on what should happen
Hi,
I'm trying to embed a tiny square M3 nut in a test block of PETG and am unsure what my printer should actually do after the pause.
1. I'm using Fusion 360 to generate a small block 10m x 8mm with a hole for a M3 screw and a little internal volume for an m3 square nut. Here's a slice of it with the top removed.
2. I load it into PrusaSlicer Version: 2.5.0+MacOS-arm64 and adjust the slider on the preview mode so that the layer is the last one before the internal volume should be printed over.
3. I add a pause print command with a message.
4. I send this to OctoPrint and watch it start.
5. The printer never seems to display the message but it does pause in the right place for me to drop the nut in.
6. I drop the nut in and press resume print on the Prusa and it seems to try to print as the head moves around, but the Prusa screen is blank and no filament is deposuted.
Not sure what to do now. The Prusa instructions don't tell me what to do now, I know I haven't got sequential printing turned on as I didn;t know about it but did check. Is this an octoprint issue? The firmware is V3.11.x which seems to be high enough. It also happens on my MK3S as well.
Any help welcomed. I'm really looking forward to getting this working and moving away from heated brass inserts.
Thanks
Rob

here is a post I did 4 years ago.
you could try putting the codes into the add custom Gcode option in a sliced model in prusa slicer

Joan,
You're just down the road from me, I'm NW of you between Settle and Ingleton.
I've seen the post, I'll have a look at what Octoprint is doing and seeing if I can see the prolem there.
Thanks
Rob

Joan,
I used your code to actually make PrusaSlicer do what it should do. For some reason the PrusaSlicer "pause" didn't work. Your version does, many thanks.
Just writing a Perl post processor to insert your pause code into my models at certain heights. This is something I will be doing repeatedly.
I actually live in Clapham, but everybody confuses that with Clapham in London, so I just say Settle now as that's easier.
Never really been to Wigan, to be honest, worked in Glasgow with PwC and IBM. We shop Lancaster, Kendal or Skipton depending on what we feel like.
All the best
