About the behavior of thin walls

Hello

I want to make a thin wall from one shot.

Specifically, we want to mold a 0.4mm wall with a 0.4mm nozzle.

That was possible with simpleify3d, but is it possible with Prusa Slicer?

I looked through all the settings of Prusa Slicer but couldn't find it.

If you enable Print Settings->Layers and perimeters->Quality->Detect thin walls, you can print walls thinner than your nozzle (to a point). You can use vase mode to print the entire print as one continuous extrusion. Describe exactly what settings you're using with S3D and it will be easier to give more specific help.

Thank you for the detailed information.

A thin wall was achieved with the settings as you say.

However, enabling this setting created another problem.

Some of the walls you don't want to change have been shredded.

I initialized the software. And here is the only option I switched.

The 3D printer uses Prusa i3 MK3S.

If you are printing parts with very fine walls, you might want to try a smaller nozzle. Try selecting one of the 0.25mm nozzle profiles and see if the walls look better.

Thanks for the answer.

I have designed the wall thickness to be 0.8mm except for one point. (It is twice the nozzle hole diameter)

Therefore, we are looking for a way to work around this problem in the software settings.

I usually use Simplify3d and can solve this problem, but I wanted to know if Prusa Slicer could solve it as well.

I would like to continue to use Prusa Slicer in the future, but if this happens, I will use Simplify3d to solve it.

Try setting the extrusion width to 0.4mm  it should allow you to print a 0.4mm wall witha 0.4mm nozzle, the result will proably be a bit weak, because you are working beneath the design intent of the slicer.

which normally uses 0.45mm extrusion width for perimeters using a 0.4mm nozzle.

in  the last post there was a note that the wall thickness desired was 0.8mm, and a comment that this was 2 perimeters thichness... 

two perimeters are normally 2x0.45mm or 0.9mm
If the thinnest part of your model is 0.8mm thich, you could make the extrusion width 0.8mm and the slicer would print that part in one pass.

(Extrusion width is and advanced mode option, found under the advanced tab in print settings (IIrC))

Thanks for the answer.

As you say, by adjusting the extrusion width, a thin wall was drawn. ("Detect thin walls" is invalid)

I also made an experimental model. It has walls that increase in width by 0.1mm from 0.4mm to 0.47mm in width.

When I sliced it, the walls were drawn continuously at 0.46mm and 0.47mm. Lines below 0.45mm were not drawn or were incomplete.

My conclusion is that if you want to make a wall with a single injection, get the right margin for the slicer software in the modeling phase.

The problem is now completely resolved.
