RE: Update...(Kind of)
To be fair Tommy also replied to my post on discord asking for more detail and it seemed like this week was the target rather than a definite and they were still bottoming stuff out. Clearly a lot of updating and change going on in the background which explains the 4 week delay

RE: Update...(Kind of)
Everyone is coming out with tool changers now. Even Flashforge... and they are designed to be CoreXY tool changers and not bolted on as an afterthought. Still scratching my head has to why Prusa never tried just scaling down the XL. Maybe it was just too expensive?
think about it, if the core one had originally had two XL heads in it, it would've been the H2D...
RE:
And more expensive than the H2D. But still, they could have released something like this 3-4 years ago and been ahead of the game. Instead they had a "Kodak Moment"
RE: Update...(Kind of)
So a few new pictures have been put out by Tommy.
Bit disappointed as I was hoping the fun fence had been re-designed, but that doesn't seem the case...however it seems the views aren't quite as obstructed as I first feared.
Not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but not as bad as I first feared:
RE:
I see a PTFE tube used as support for the cable ... interesting approach. I hope that at least the new cable (light brown) gets integrated with the rest as, as it stands now, it is really ugly. I also see a cable exiting from both filament entry point blocks on the left and right ... sensors I guess, I'd love to see where they go into the electronics...
RE: Update...(Kind of)
Not sure what you mean by light brown cable mate.
I think these are dev machines with weird probes etc hanging out all over the place. I think these photos were just to give an example of the viewing angles and obstruction. Not necessarily to show a finalised INDX installation.
RE: Update...(Kind of)
Is it me or has this forum been down for a few days? Was that on purpose while they got these photos together? 🤣
Ok with a four tool set up being what I intended to get and with that hinged top my concerns around access are far less from looking at these photos. I can work that easily into the way I have my system set up and the space around it. That said I think I have concluded based on everything over the last couples week I'm probably going to hold out on the founders and wait for the general release. I was looking forward to it but I have so many other projects I can't get the time to work on, tinkering with this for months won't help. I think I can live with a single material set up for another bit. Will hold off final decision until the very last moment, saw Olaf mention on discord we might have until mid April to look for refunds for the deposit but TBC.
RE: Update...(Kind of)
ALso that's some scratched up satin plate... wonder if they are having bed level issues with it
RE: Update...(Kind of)
the one exiting the side of the extruder in the last picture.
Of course these are dev machines but I do not take anything more for granted given the changes this thing went through sofar 😀

RE: Update...(Kind of)
They're just temperature probes mate, we wont have those.

The irregularity of those scratches suggest to me someone welded a part to the build plate , and used something sharp to remove it 🤣

Those whitish textile-sleeved cables with blue heatshrink at the end look like temperature probes to me; there's another one coming in from the back of the new enclosure hood. I would assume that they are for testing under development only.

Yeah Tommy mentioned they're just probes used for development.
I'll repeat, these pictures were provided just to show view obstruction through the fun fence.
RE: Update...(Kind of)
I guess since we won't see them in production that they are "alien" probes.
I'm not so put off by the Prusa chastity belt in terms of visability. What I'm more concerned about will be the difficultly of getting in there to clean crud off the nozzles or removing stray strands during a print while the bed is still high.
RE: Update...(Kind of)
I agree that the view obstruction doesn't look as bad as I feared, but of course pictures are no substitute from interacting with the thing physically to get the feel for it.
Also, I see that the top PTFE block has the PTFE tubes just going through sheet metal holes. I'm curios if they would get scratched up from rubbing against the metal edges and whether having rubber or plastic inserts would make sense.

PTFE tubes are consumable items and will eventually need to be replaced regardless. Especially if you run abrasive filaments.

That first picture where they glimpse through the small peephole in the bottom center. 🤣
Users must get really cozy with their printer to get that view...

Maybe a colonoscopy camera?

And you thought a Prusa XL 5 head unit was expensive...
RE: Update...(Kind of)
When you order the endoscope, don't forget also put some forceps, tweezers etc. for minimally invasive surgery into the shopping cart. 😉
