I still have horrible memories of droping 4.5K for the original XL. it took ages for that thing to to be reasonably useful. even with the latest 6.4.1 firmware it crashes the active extruder to the left side of the printer when you cancel a print. Cancelling a print job is not uncommon particularly when you're printing TPU and are getting yoru settings dialed in. As much as I'd like to dive in to an 8 extruder kit, history gives me pause and I know I'll have a better experience after they work out the kinks. The XL was my earlier adopter experience, I'd care not repeat it lol
I'm in the waiting camp, when I saw general orders had opened I did think about it but I will wait, it needs 6 months out in the real world to see how well it works.
There will be bugs so Prusa need time to sort these out and with the price increase which is what I paid for the Core One kit in the first place it is steep, I can imagine a ready built 8 nozzle Indx Core One costing $2k which puts you into well polished Bambu H2x territory.

This is my current setup: 4 in a dryer box and 1 outside for quick filament changes.
Once that was my idea, too, but humidity had different plans. Depends where you live, I guess.
I found the importance of dry filament can't be overstated.

the open buffers? Got a spacePi myself...
obviously, once the old filament is flushed out, you get what you put in.

I got rid of original buffers days after purchase, they are extremly unpractical. Basically, after mmu assembly i only used them to print rewindr and coreboxx systems.

Sure you can leave filament loaded. Just don't expect it to stay dry...

I'm a bit concerned about new indx system regarding filaments positions... now i have all 5 of them in a box (coreboxx) so there's at least some protetcion against moisture and dust. New positions are at each side, so... totally open...?

I don't retract it completely; I simply tighten the excess filament from the buffer. So far, I haven't had any problems with moisture, except for one roll of PVA, which I had to retract completely and dry before and during use.I don't usually use technical filaments like nylon and others; I mostly use PETG, and this system works quite well for me.

That's why it's nice to have a second printer. If the INDX doesn't work out of the box (I think it will be fine but who knows...) then I'm not dead. So don't really mind in this case being a beta tester.

Prusa's solution are the USS dryboxes. You can store your filament in them, and mount them on the printer's side to directly print from them. Expensive though.

Friend of mine who owns a 5 tool XL joked that it's still in beta 3 years later.

Yes, it still is in beta. They only just recently fixed auto home issues. However they did NOT fix the crashing into the side when you cancel a print. I often have to cancel them when I'm dialing print settings, for tpu in particular. But to their credit it's WAY better than it was. I'd just like a refresh like the MK{3,4} series have been getting. But I've not counted prusa out just yet. I have three of their printers and I just started doing an upgrade of my last MK4S to be a core one. I'm just waiting to see how this INDX thing turns out. I'm curious if they'll offer INDX for XL.

For the crashing. When I stop the printer it will place the tool in the left back corner I think and disabled the motors. After that I will pull the extruder/gantry somewhat to the middel of the bed and re home. It avoids the crashing. Into the side/first tool.

Yeah it depends. But it's really not something you'd expect to happen on 4.5k printer after 3+ years of firmware updates 🙂 TPU prints are mostly the ones I do any cancelling of so I don't see it a lot. Just the every once in a while. I'm glad the fixed the auto home one at least.

i guess that someone will "invent" a kind of coreboxx for it. Otherwise i guess i'll have to remodel my existing one for my needs.

If you want a solid customer experience, my answer is no. Definitely no. HELL to the NO.

I have had an MMU since MMU2. Went through the manual mods, MMU3 covered all the mods except a horizontal mount. Went from MK4s to CoreOne with the MMU3. If MMU3 is working well for you and you are not time bound on your system and are careful with money wait, but it may be about 6 months or more before orders are filled and it is readily available.
I ordered the INDX 62 minutes after release. If about 3 months hopefully, I will be writing my review.
About keeping filament dry. I agree the open air answers are not good for multi-filament. This is my answer, a big dry box.

I’ve ordered INDX and I’m in batch one.
However, I’m a bit confused still whether to keep it - I didn’t realize was that CoreOne with INDX is getting a smaller print plate than MK4. Since it’s not that big to begin with, this reduction makes it a significant negative for me. Mk series legacy still there and many models are designed with 250x220mm, not 248x205mm plate in mind. For instance, there is an Upcycling Prusament spool contest going on - with 205mm, you can’t print many of the contest models.
Maybe INDX makes more sense with CoreOne L, but that’s a different story because I can’t upgrade to it from the printer I already have.

I didn’t realize was that CoreOne with INDX is getting a smaller print plate than MK4. Since it’s not that big to begin with, this reduction makes it a significant negative for me.
Maybe someone will design an alternative "outboard" mounting plate for the tool docks which positions them further forward. Plus a custom door of course, or spacers that go onto the front profiles to bring the door forward as well.
With the turret on top and a load of spools on the sides, it seems only logical that the Core One should get another bulge on the front! 😉
