INDX Update on PrusaXL ?
Hallo Prusa
Are You thinkering about an XL upgrade To PrusaXL INDX ?
would be a huge update, and worth it because of Speed in Toolchanging and reliability

Look at this:

Mods for Core One: Core One HT 450 degrees, Comfortable display , Very fast print start and Reducing noises
Mods for Prusa XL: Very fast print start

Oh boy I wish I had known that a week ago ... stupid me, throwing my money away 🙂
Size yes 5 mm per axis, undeniable without cutting custom length profiles.
Remaining claims, we'll see about those.
RE: INDX Update on PrusaXL ?
I suspect that the INDX is not coming to the XL after reading that article. Although, it does not specifically say that.

I see no benefit for the XL to be INDX "upgraded" (sounds like a downgrade to me).
You'd better ask for a CORE One XL then. 😉

100% concur.

No, it would be a downgrade, it's slower in toolchanging and my XL is already completely reliable.
Cheerio,
RE: INDX Update on PrusaXL ?
But it could have one toolchanger for INDX and the other four for other stuff.
That would be fun, imagine INDX multimaterial, silicone, pick&place.
The problem with the XL is that the community did not really bothered to create custom toolheads, because people were not eager to risk damaging the device for that price. That's why there isn't that many toolheads.
See my GitHub and printables.com for some 3d stuff that you may like.
RE: INDX Update on PrusaXL ?
There are a few benefits to a hypothetical XL+INDX in my opinion - much cheaper/smaller/lighter toolheads and more of them. You could fit, what, 10 or so in theory?
Now, whether that's even possible without seriously redesigning the XL isn't for me to say, and I realise not everyone needs remotely that many materials or colours (though it hasn't stopped people using multiple AMS).
RE: INDX Update on PrusaXL ?
I don’t believe it would be too difficult to adopt the Prusa XL to use INDX. Anyone interested in exploring this option?

Likely true also.

Are you volunteering to do the firmware integration? That seems like the main hurdle.
RE: INDX Update on PrusaXL ?
Perhaps, but I also have not a clue where to start creating my own tool....
In the first place because it costs an arm just to have the option for a third tool.
And it was already not so easy to print reliably with two tool heads. And when did the code for how the tool heads work and the cad designs become available?

Yes, I’m willing to work on the firmware. However, it depends on whether I can obtain a second INDX kit in a meaningful time frame so that I can experiment. Once Prusa releases the source code for Core 1 firmware running INDX, I can analyze what it would take to port the changes to an XL with a single nozzle. Additionally, this depends on how open-source the INDX firmware will be and how the macros from Bontek work.
The primary reason I want to do this is the cooling issue with the XL. INDX definitely solves it with both double 40 mm fans or CPAP. And yes, the extra tool heads would be nice. I believe the maximum tool heads will be 12 on an XL base, based on the 1.5-inch spacing from the Core One.
Anyway, if anyone is going to start working on porting for the XL, I can count me in.
