RE: Anybody following Bondtech's Discord community on INDX?
1.) wait on purchasing a unit until Prusa says "here it is, a complete package"; or
You might want to read up how Prusa's product rollouts have played out in past years and take shiny marketing videos with a grain of salt (or a spoonful, or a cup. Or a bucket).
What you should do - IMHO - is go for INDX only once there is community agreement that it delivers what it promises. 2027? Maybe. Maybe not.
Even then it may be not the best choice if you just want to print not tinker with the printer. E.g. MMU3 in core One - and this is sold by Prusa as a system - has multiple issues that need to be worked around by the user (e.g. umbilical sagging and jamming the head, filament blobs dripping and jamming the head). One wrong button press and the printer needs reboot unless I'm in a mood to play along with the firmware and reload all five filaments. Yes, INDX is different but extrapolation seems valid.
RE: Anybody following Bondtech's Discord community on INDX?
Wait until Prusa sells INDX version of Core One.
Of if you are open to a bit if tinkering the. Get a Core One and INDX upgrade later.
Just skip the MMU3.
Also worth to reconsider the print volume you need, maybe jump to L, but in that case I would wait for the version with INDX, otherwise you will have two unused nozzles and nextruder to sell.
Finally! A post with a little kernal of info that I think I'm looking for.
First a small intro.... Hi there! DraftingMaggie here, I'm a nearly 60-y-o gramma with 35+years experience as a structural drafter, from hand-drafting to BIM. I received an Ender Pro as a retirement gift from my daughter 4 years ago and now I'm ready to upgrade my toy.
I'm really liking the looks of the Prusa Core+ or the L and would hope that I can get it with the INDX system - and I won't lie, I don't want to build anything - I'm done and over with building stuff (like I mentioned... I had an Ender... I know about putting together/taking apart!)
Here's my question... do I:
1.) wait on purchasing a unit until Prusa says "here it is, a complete package"; or
2.) do I buy one now and continue to manually change filament for color changes until the INDX can be added; or
3.) or do I buy now with the MMU, getting the INDX when available?
at first glance, it would seem that option 3 is a waste of money... but is there any benefit to having both systems? can that even be done??
I'm sure this wasn't the proper thread for this question, but I appreciate your thoughts.

RE: Anybody following Bondtech's Discord community on INDX?
That's rather bleak, TBH.
I still have my MMU3 sitting in a box (next to my well working C1+), but I thought that by now the issues should have been mostly worked out... and that I'll just (eventually) assemble the thing and start technicolor multicolor/multimaterial printing.
I guess there's more study to be done, then?
RE: Anybody following Bondtech's Discord community on INDX?
Lots of traffic over on Discord complaining about us (this thread) complaining about Discord 🤣
I love this 😂
RE: Anybody following Bondtech's Discord community on INDX?
I still have an account but I think about deleting it every time I log back in.
If you hop on there now, there is a thread about Prusa "stealing and/or taking credit" for the INDX. Previously there were a bunch of meme's about Florida. Guess it's time to mute it.
I deleted my Discord account again right away. I had not expected that Bondtech chat to be as hectic and pointless as the real-time stuff one sometimes sees during Youtube live streams. Are there Discord communities/channels/whatever which are more serious and useful, or are they all like that?
Regarding the "waiting for INDX" theme in general, I remain skeptical about the software. INDX will require major firmware changes and is meant to be supported by PrusaSlicer 3.0, right? And we have not seen a single update on the software.
Personally I did not expect my INDX kit to be shipped on March 31st anyway. On the FormNext launch day it took me a while to summon the courage to be an early adopter again, so I am somewhere in the second half of the preorders. Hence I am happy to give Prusa and Bondtech an extra month or two to get the software under control, as long as they can then ship all 1500 kits quickly. 😊

The discourse over there is quite amusing. Some complaining that we are being "entitled" since, after having given Bondtech $800 (in my case) how dare we enquire as to what we are actually going to receive and when. I'm paraphrasing but that's my take-away after "taking one for the team", i.e. wading through pages and pages of memes and other crap.

I was expecting something along the lines of "young turks vs. boomers"...

More like "discorders" vs "forumers". The gist of it is "we don't get them". Guy creates discord account, joins channel and expects discord not to be discord.

Guy creates Discord account, finds Discord to be Discord, turns on his heel. 😎

Absolute playground stuff 😂
RE: Anybody following Bondtech's Discord community on INDX?
I think the irony of those comments in discord is likely lost on a couple of them 😂 leave them at it. It’s funny how they are proving our point without even realising it

One thing that bother me about my son’s generation - everyone older than them is a “boomer”. I missed that generation by a few years and would gladly associate with them, but I am not a baby-boomer. Ignorance is a terrible thing.

I missed the boomer generation and smile when I get lumped into that category as well but then even Gen-Z is throwing shade at millennials for being "out of touch"
RE: Anybody following Bondtech's Discord community on INDX?
I’m a f’ing millennial and I’ve been called a boomer by that generation 😂 ignorance is bliss. That said I think discord has a mix of ages on it but do think it’s base majority would be to the younger/gen z side.
I had to go over to have a look at some of the comments there. To be fair it’s only a small few that engaged. Those that did honestly were noting that without them asking the Bondtech and Prusa lads questions we’d never have known the info. 😂 The entitlement comment was more around the fact that we’re apparently over here looking to be spoon fed info. We should be going to the effort of asking the lads on discord the same questions every 4 hours on cycle 😂 again I love how we’re seemingly trolling them on this forum here without even trying

I guess on some level the Discord aficionados know that their way of interacting and wasting time over there is not healthy.
RE: Anybody following Bondtech's Discord community on INDX?
I've realised because of Bondtech's reluctance to communicate publicly on any other platform I have no choice but to put up with their Mensa level discourse 🤣
RE: Anybody following Bondtech's Discord community on INDX?
Ignore their discord and wait for official messages via other means such as product pages or blogs. They have to update at least product pages, otherwise they will go insane over the same questions on the discord.

RE: Anybody following Bondtech's Discord community on INDX?
Thanks,
I knew in my heart the answer was going to be "wait" as far as INDX went.
Small issues with MMU tweaking dont bother me too much, maybe I'll just take a second look at doing that. That might bring the XL back into consideration.
Thanks again, like I said before, I know this wasn't the right thread for this. It's appreciated.

There's no benefit in having both. As far as I'm aware, firmware support doesn't exist to run both, and I seriously doubt that's even on Prusa's radar.
I had an MMU3 on a MK4 in an enclosure, and while it mostly worked rather well, on the occasions when it needed attention it was an absolute devil to fix - access inside the enclosure is terrible, and the standard MMU3 design isn't optimised for troubleshooting.
When I wanted to add one to my CORE One Prusa had a long lead time on the parts, so I ventured 'off piste' and bought a clone kit of parts, and I took the opportunity to try the UltiMulti printed parts, since this design has more of a focus on accessibility to fix problems. I also changed the mounting location to the top right of the CORE One, rather than the back, and for me it's a much better setup - it's easier to get to, and it's easier to open and clear blockages etc. It works fairly reliably, but it didn't work reliably out of the box. I found the ramming settings weren't right for ABS, for example, and it kept jamming on filament swaps until I found the right settings.
So I'm quite a fan of the MMU3, yet I jumped on the INDX founders pre-order the moment it became available. I'm certain that other posters are correct when they say it'll need work initially, but to me it seems like a fundamentally simpler system that should be easier to set up and should be more flexible and reliable once it settles down. I won't mind tossing out the MMU3 on my CORE One in the slightest - I'm expecting the INDX to be a major improvement.
In your shoes I wouldn't bother with an MMU3, unless you're desperate to print multicolour ASAP. And personally I wouldn't hold out for an assembled CORE One+/L with INDX - it feels like that could be some way off at this point, and having built my CORE One from a kit I think it's likely to be a fairly simple job to build the INDX kit onto an assembled printer.
RE: Anybody following Bondtech's Discord community on INDX?
Color prints can take a lot longer with the MMU than with the INDX solution, that's something to think about.
