RE: Anybody following Bondtech's Discord community on INDX?
> Are there Discord communities/channels/whatever which are more serious and useful, or are they all like that?
It depends, surely there are a more steady and docused communities, and there are places where there is a flood of crap
It just seems that the chat format encourages those rambling "stream of consciousness" discussions with a terrible signal-to-noise ratio. I sometimes feel that even classic forum platforms like this one here "drag me in" too much. It would certainly be worse for me -- and, by the looks of it, for most users there -- on a platform like Discord. I better stay away...
RE:
I’m looking forward to the PrusaSlicer 3 improvements. It’s super hard to manage filament work flows and keeping everything in-sync between installations.
Also, this is not 10 years ago when there were gaps in innovation and not a lot of players on the field. As of 2026, there are just too many options which encourages one to be inpatient.
RE:
Forums and discord and other, they are different forms of communication. Some people prefer slow asynchronous ones that encourage thinking befor writing (emails or forums/reddit, facebook groups or whatever there is...), while other are better especially when you really gain from fast interaction such as Discord, which helps to do brain storming of the ideas or fast discussions or invaluable fast troubleshooting sessions. Of coure there are also voice formats like videos or live video chats, and mix of all above ( live stream with chat ..). You need to pick the one you prefer and do not force yourself to all of them, because it is a total time drain.
I would say reddit discord related to prusa3d got some changes in behaviour recently - old members went a bit quiet but they monitor the discussions and act accordingly, while some new people started to dominate some channels with faster messages.
The official prusa discord went much more active since the beginning of this year - some people are back to be active and this also leads to other people to be active and discuss things. But its not a typical youtube/twitch chat flood, it's much more normal and natural. I believe this also was triggered by the overall Prusa move to improve engagement with the community, similar to the forums updates.
There are more discord communities related to 3d print, but trying to follow all of them would be just a waste of time. That's why some people just hang out on only few of them or are active for some period on only specific ones - usually when looking for information or help. This also applies to the forums, or any other mentioned media platform.
So, choose your poison, set specific time limits for each to restrict the dosage 😆

RE: Anybody following Bondtech's Discord community on INDX?
I think the challenge and what frustrates me with discord the fact that it is designed to be monitored constantly. Which makes sense during an event, live stream etc. which is what is was originally conceived to be used for. But for general community engagement, it becomes a stream of conscious for many users and because of time zones and just the fact that people can’t be monitoring busy channels 24/7, people post similar if not the same things hours/days a part. Coupled with no means to easily search things most servers are a mess of repetitive information and discussions. I think those that grew up with social media from a very early age, enjoy this medium. Others like myself that can remember having a MySpace account likely aren’t as enthused by it.
RE: Anybody following Bondtech's Discord community on INDX?
Discord is a modern IRC but with a chat history, url previews and voice/video streaming. It can be used in a similar way as forums (some people call it slow mode), but it really depends on the number of people on the channel. I know some channels that get one or two messages a week, while the others are just a constant stream of excitement similar to the Mexican wave on the stadium.
Thankfully you can mute some channels to avoid the urge for reviewing them, because it leads to the stress known as FOMO (fear of missing out).
Just let it go, find the channels you like.

Completely pointless having a discord server dedicated to a certain product (INDX), then leaving it completely unmoderated.
This evenings highlights were about 50 posts discussing and comparing filament profiles for that glowing PETG.
I'm done with that crappy platform.

🤣
I was about to post the same thing. I'll make the same comment I made about the BL forums. Discord is like anti-knowledge. Every time I hang out there, I leave knowing less. At least I'm caught up on my memes.

I am happy to report that account deletion on Discord works as advertised. 🙂 I submitted a deletion request on March 8th (which happens to be the same day I created my account), and they dutifully confirmed on March 22nd that they have deleted my details. Not that I would have needed a fortnight to think it over...
RE: Anybody following Bondtech's Discord community on INDX?
Honestly forums like this are the best platform by far. Knowledgable people with a real interest and passion in the hobby. Generally much less slop and s**tposting.
Reddit's bad, Discord is 10 x worse.
The only negatives about this platform is the actual software itself, and the small userbase. IMO Prusa should be promoting and encouraging the use of this forum a lot more than it does.
I guess with Reddit they get volunteers to do most of the moderation for free.

I can't figure Reddit out. I go over there and I just get lost. When this forum was down for 3 days I started hanging out at Discord and Reddit. I should have not bothered. Discord reminds me of morning radio DJ's that have sound-effects cued up as part of their schtick. It seems people posting on there must have huge libraries of animated gifs at the ready.
RE: Anybody following Bondtech's Discord community on INDX?
I'm happy to crosspost all my ramblings over there here as well, since uncouth folks are missing out on discussion.
RE: Anybody following Bondtech's Discord community on INDX?
Discord was intended and geared for chatting during online gaming and streaming. It’s essentially an old school chat room from the late 90s, but with gif’s everywhere! Honestly not sure why a company that sells products would want to create one, but I guess people want instant gratification if they have a question. Thankfully as discord is rolling out a ID verification feature there’s a good chance it’ll become less popular and companies might get more sense.

Instead of deleting an account you can just leave the specific server.

I know, but I did not expect to find anything useful elsewhere. The whole platform does not seem to encourage thinking before posting, but is more about "stream of consciousness", shooting from the hip.
RE:
As I stated before, it is a different communication platform - it's a different tool - and as usual the quality is defined by the user base and how they behave. There are really good quality posts on the discord servers, you happened to step into a shitty one, though 😉
Not gonna touch this topic any more, enough was said.

The better servers are the ones who are actively moderated.
Unfortunately if you let a bunch of kids post every random thought that goes through their minds the Bondtech INDX channel is the result.
And it is also a glowing example of that weird phenomenon ‘the brand apologist’.
Heaven forbid you dare be even slightly critical of Prusa or Bondtech in there, the cult kids will circle you and attack like starving piranha.

Know that one all too well... It's like I entered their church and **** on their holy relics.
RE: Anybody following Bondtech's Discord community on INDX?
I don't think you looked at the same Discord I'm on, then. There's nearly constant criticism there, esp. after every any change in plan, product, or pricing.
RE:
Finally! A post with a little kernal of info that I think I'm looking for.
First a small intro.... Hi there! DraftingMaggie here, I'm a nearly 60-y-o gramma with 35+years experience as a structural drafter, from hand-drafting to BIM. I received an Ender Pro as a retirement gift from my daughter 4 years ago and now I'm ready to upgrade my toy.
I'm really liking the looks of the Prusa Core+ or the L and would hope that I can get it with the INDX system - and I won't lie, I don't want to build anything - I'm done and over with building stuff (like I mentioned... I had an Ender... I know about putting together/taking apart!)
Here's my question... do I:
1.) wait on purchasing a unit until Prusa says "here it is, a complete package"; or
2.) do I buy one now and continue to manually change filament for color changes until the INDX can be added; or
3.) or do I buy now with the MMU, getting the INDX when available?
at first glance, it would seem that option 3 is a waste of money... but is there any benefit to having both systems? can that even be done??
I'm sure this wasn't the proper thread for this question, but I appreciate your thoughts.
Really what it comes down to is putting off purchasing decisions waiting for the INDX to arrive based on some nebulous (end of Q1) date. That is the bit I find annoying. When I ordered my Core One in February last year I knew I was going to receive it end of June (which indeed that is when I received it) because I was getting regular updates from Prusa on the status of my order. If they had instead said only in the beginning: "Give us your money now and you will maybe get it sometime late Q2" and then gone silent, I would have bought a different printer.

Lots of traffic over on Discord complaining about us (this thread) complaining about Discord 🤣
