Is the filament runout sensor really required?

I had to partially disassemble my Core One to recover from a length of filament that had gotten stuck in the PTFE tube from the spool to the toolhead.  This situation was made significantly more difficult by the presence of the filament runout sensor.  As a hobbyist who generally does one-off functional parts for my robotics projects, I don't see the need for this piece - and removing it would vastly simplify the filament path.  Any thoughts?

TIA,

Frank

RE:

Its probably not required, it just automates selection via menu what filament you load, and helps to pause the print when there is not enough filament on the spool.

Check in the menu if you can disable it, then you could remove it from the load path.
