Actually for a "home printer" (L may already target a different audience) I'm not even unhappy about a lower hardware cap on max. temperature.
350°C is still below typically reported autoignition temperatures of (e.g. accidentally loaded) PLA but this may also be a non-issue in reality.

I wonder why they took away the kit version. They've always offered both version in the past - the build is half the fun!

There is a thread above and some other someplace that since it runs off of direct AC power, there are legalities and practical considerations with that versus running it off of a PSU.
I wonder how much time and effort it really saves them to offer the kit. I like the kits, it give me confidence that I can tear it apart to fix of mod it. But getting all the parts together and packaged, and then having to deal with people not assembling correctly.

Skipping the kit version might make their lives easier. They won't be backordered, 6 months out, getting hounded everyday for shipment and batch updates.

I would love to know how much support time is spent by Prusa on factory assembled vs kit build. Of course they only know that but I can expect the kits were probably a resource drain for them. Common mistakes like using the wrong screws, inserting the motor pulley the wrong way or bending up the gantry would never have made it past Prusa QC.
My opinion again but I suspect the Core One INDX upgrade will be their last kit.

This could also be the first step towards outsourcing production. It may well be the only way Prusa can compete (or even continue to exist) in the long run. It's a shame but if the choice is either no Prusa, or Prusa built in China, then it's better than nothing.
There's no shame in it, it's the way of the world.
If the QA is up to scratch then I don't really have a problem with it... it could lead to them being more competitive with pricing which would obviously benefit us all.

Interesting… they have only mentioned that the MMU3 would be available for the CoreL, no mention of the INDX system? Maybe the MMU3 is a bolt on. Maybe the INDX system hasn’t been officially sanctioned so it hasn’t been mentioned? If the CoreL isn’t INDXable post shipping, that would be a problem. I might wait until Formnext to get a better feel for the upgrade path.
For the model line, it looks like the XL will be the more capable (things like the paste extruder) and expandable, while the CORE1 series has more multimaterial, but less exotic heads.

Yep, wondering the same as in what is the overhead of Prusa printing their own parts versus outsourcing and injection molding. My car was assembled in the US but most of the electronics and parts came from China. However, I don't consider it a "Chinese" car. I suppose it's a ship of Theseus argument...
It may not have come across in these forms, but I would pay a premium for a Prusa INDX versus a SnapMaker U1 as long as it's not too much of a price difference. If the Prusa Core One INDX upgrade kit is less than the cost of a U1 then I'll stay on team Prusa. As long as there are no issues similar to what plagued the Core One in the first 6 months.

1) think the new normal will be factory made units with kit accessories (mmu/index/high heat?)
2) think we will see a new core xl eventually, but maybe not until v2.
3) the open filament system will be a smashing success
