Printing larger objects with PETG

hi all

I recently received my Core One kit and have been printing some smaller things successfully using PLA.  Also PETG (after dialing in sometimes some settings)
seems to be working fine most of the time.  However, when I try to start printing larger objects of several hours printing time, things start to get more tricky.
Small imperfections, bit of stringing and sometimes a bad layer adhesion are adding up and are messing up the entire print over time.  The first layers are usually
very good.

I only tried this with PETG so far (maybe not the easiest), but I've started to notice this as well on medium prints with PLA.  I'm using Prusament and
have been drying the PETG (~17% RH in the printbox).

Any suggestions of things I could explore?  thanks!

RE: Printing larger objects with PETG

With the Core One, the ambient temperature is really important.

Layer adhesion issues for longer prints sounds like heatcreep and then either a partial clog of the high flow nozzle or just too soft filament for the extruder gear to push it through.

Stringing can either happen due to the retraction not working well or because your chamber temperature becomes too high.

Please do another print and keep an eye on the chamber temperature, but also, before starting the print, activate the heatbreak temperature:

Settings - > user interface - > footer - > empty slot - > heatbreak.

For PLA, issues start to arise at about 30°C chamber and 40°C heatbreak. Since the heatbreak fan uses the air of the chamber, the two temperatures are linked to each other.

Opening the door a little bit, can help the heatbreak, while not reducing the chamber temp too much. It can be difficult for longer prints to keep the print from  warping at the front of the bed, while giving the heatbreak enough cooling.

Thanks, I have to say, it is really warm here last days, and chamber temp is around 32-33°C.  So maybe could be the issue?

For PLA: definitely could be, yes.

For PETG: it should only start stringing, but due to the hotter bed, the chamber might be even warmer.

For layer adhesion/extruding issues, only the heatbreak temperature matters.
