Naive Coreone+ user Prusa CORE One bed adhesion problems

I have a Prusa CORE One that I purchased when they first became avaiable. I bought a few accessories and made a very small number of PLA prints, mainly example files that came with the printer using the provided filament.  I was quite impressed, but I became busy with many things that prevented me from using the printer more.

Now I need to make some prints and am having serious difficulties.  I have tried Prusa PLA and PETG, both freshly unsealed fom the hermetic sealing they were received in.  I have tried both the smooth and satin finish print plates.  I have repeated all of the initial tests and configuration steps I find in the documentation.  Everything is clean, everything is stock Prusa, and everything is by-the-book.  But nothing sticks for long.

Usually the adhesion fails on the left side of the print plate (my left, as I face it) and somewhere in the second layer everything comes completely loose.  There is some indication that the bed is not absolutely level, a few micrometers lower on the left, but this does not seem to be the main problem.

My previous 3d printing experience was always with ABS using 2.85 mm filament. Warping was almost inevitable and I had to use all sort of concotions to get things to stick at all.  but I could do it with enough persistence.  I had illusions that this would work much better, but at this point I'm flirting with despair.

What is it that I am doing wrong?

RE:

For PETG I use the Prusa satin sheet and magigoo. PLA I use the smooth PEI sheet.  Fingerprint oil is a major cause of non sticking (my fingerprints creep in from the sides due to flexing the sheets) and it does not take much of a smudge. I clean with running water and a drop of Dawn dishwashing detergent on my clean (just washed) fingertip and rub it around. Dawn has great grease / oil cutting and is better than alcohol for cleaning the sheets.  Then apply the Magigoo.   Magigoo can also help with the PEI sheet as well and lasts for many prints (until I fingerprint smudge the sheet again).

I no longer trust "sealed" filament spools. I run them thru the dryer (creality space PI x4) before printing, especially now with summer arriving and high humidity levels here in Wisconsin (currently 54% and was >90% this morning).

You mention "everything is clean". Have you tried washing the plate with dish soap and warm water? Also what temperature are you running the plates at?

The three common reasons for prints suddenly failing after a printer has been unused for a while:

A dirty print bed. Give it a really thorough clean and avoid touching the print area.

Damp filament. Look up threads here about drying filament especially if it has been left open.  'Sealed' bags with filament and dessicant are ok for a few months - just a few months.

General neglect, dust and cobwebs... Basic cleaning, lubrication and general maintenance have all been missed.

Thank you all for your suggestions.  I will pursue them tomorrow.  I had such good results with my initial prints that I was not expecting to need anything like magigoo.  I have ordered some and will try it.

-D.
