I'd have a look whether the filament moves freely in the PTFE tubes. Filament oiling may be a controversial topic - I do it but only a tiny little bit on the first meter, just to prevent the tubes getting "too clean". Now avoiding sharp bends may already help.

Friction does show up in the quality of flat surfaces - your blobs might be an extreme example. In any case, improving filament friction can only make things better.

I've found and interesting but similar problem. Dust on the filament showing up in my prints and occasionally causing issues. This is mostly an issue with white filaments.

I've found and interesting but similar problem. Dust on the filament showing up in my prints and occasionally causing issues. This is mostly an issue with white filaments. 

White just sucks in general, especially in PETG.

Been getting into lithophanes recently so it's all matte white PLA.
