Any experience with Spectrum HDPE filament on CoreOne?

Hello,

I recently found the Spectrum HDPE filament. ( https://spectrumfilaments.com/de/filament/hdpe )

I would like to try it. (filamentworld.de offers samples)

Has anybody used it and can give me hints for the settings on a CoreOne?
Is it usable with the HF-nozzle? what speed/temperatures? which plate?

thanks for any hints, Richard

RE:

I have a roll of this that I used to print funnels for SLA resins. These are the settings I played around with but it's not perfectly dialed in. As for using a HF nozzle with engineering plastics, I don't recommend it. Most of these types of filaments do better when using a standard nozzle.

  • Diamondback 0.4mm nozzle
  • BIQU Cryogrip Glacier sheet
  • Nozzle 260°
  • Bed 95° (for first and other layers)
  • Chamber 55°
  • Idle 170°
  • Part fan 0-15%
  • Bridges 25-30%
  • Disable fan for first 10 layers
  • Max volumetric flow 9mm^3/s
  • Retraction length 0.6mm
  • Retraction speed 34 mm/s

I didn't print any geometries that are prone to warping like large flat parts or things with 90° corners so not sure if adhesive or brims would be needed. I've since switched to polypropylene which is cheaper and easier to print.

This filament shrinks a lot so definitely run a shrinkage test. I have yet because I was only printing stuff where I didn't care about dimensional accuracy.

hygier,
thanks for the settings.

You wrote that it still a lot. The description on the website promisses low shrinking...

I will order a sample and try it.
The UV stability is interesting for outdoor use. The only other suitable filament is ASA as far as I know (at least for CoreOne users).
