RE: Ugly walls
YGK3D has found the same issue. You can watch it here at 14:51
I mailed this to support and got a reply that they're aware of this issue.
RE: Ugly walls
Have you received a response from Prusa ?
I can't find a solution yet.

They've sent me a new planetary gear set. Did not help unfortunately.
Not many people seem to complain about this issue, but i think most people just settle with this quality, or just don't see it.
RE:
I cannot send it back for refund anymore, but decided to sell my Core One.
I'm not sure if i will by another Prusa. I had hoped to get near-perfect prints from Prusa, but it's miles away from my other printers.
I really wanted this printer to be good, as i do like Prusa, but i think they're falling behind.
It could be there is an issue with my specific printer, but i reached a point that i don't want to deal with it.
RE: Ugly walls
It's funny because we feel exactly the same way.
Since the withdrawal period is 60 days, mine will be returned to Prusa next week.
I expected so much better from this machine.
RE: Ugly walls
Just to let you know, i sold my Core One.
I might buy one again in the future, but for now i turn to my P1S, which i don't like, but has better quality prints, and my Voron.
RE: Ugly walls
Mine was refunded by Prusa and I'm going back to my X1C
RE: Ugly walls
I just got notification my two mk4s->core upgrade kits are about to ship. I hope they figure this out.
RE: Ugly walls
If you can, don’t open it and go back to prusa 😢
RE:
Just for future reference of anyone who comes across this thread, did you do the gear alignment?
https://help.prusa3d.com/article/gearbox-alignment-core-one-mk4-s-mk3-9-s_465779
It's an absolute must, however I suspect that the problem may have been the motor and/or the planetary gears. I may have been why they shipped you a new planetary gear set since I discovered my ring gear was oval and not round, they replaced mine and it improved a lot. Furthermore there is a bad batch of nextruder motors that have been going out but Prusa doesn't seem to care too much. I disassembled it and the shafts have been machined incorrectly, and there seems to be slight eccentricity on the pinions. You can see in the attached images that some shafts are too far towards the rear of the motor meaning planetary gear engagement is inadequate. The last image is what the eccentric pinion does.
RE: Ugly walls
I'm going to role the dice and try the upgrades. I have 3 printers, 2 x MK4S and 1 x 5 tool XL and it's more of a hobby than me trying to sell anything I make. I'm going to upgrade one of the MK4S machines first and pay attention to the PG gear alignment process.
RE: Ugly walls
@ssill2 You'll be almost certainly fine, if you are upgrading a MK4/S you should have nextruder components from the old suppliers and so should have a really nice printer in the core one. Putting the MK4 nextruder into my core one made it print beautifully.
RE: Ugly walls
oh so the upgrade reuses the MK4 nextruder. Good to know. I've upgraded these from MK3S lol The XL I bought "fully" assembled. Looking forward to having all the printers be core xy

If you print "cosmetic" parts where belt ripple (sometimes called VFAs) on smooth surfaces matters, consider keeping an MK4S for that. Belt ripple on most Core Ones, as on many other CoreXY printers, is much more pronounced than on the MK4S.
RE: Ugly walls
I'll upgrade one of them first and do some burn in testing to see what I'm working with. probably do some comparison prints to see. Kits should be here on tues

Yes, i have performed the calibration about 50 times. I also received new planetary gears from Prusa, did not make any difference.
A defective motorshaft sounds plausible, i have seen this happen before. I checked for alignment on mine and it seemed ok.
I cannot check anything else, since i don't own a Core One anymore.
RE: Ugly walls
well, after a journey over here
https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/prusa-core-one-assembly-and-first-prints-troubleshooting/tension-pulley-broken/paged/7/#post-760334
got my replacement parts and I hope to be printing soon.
RE: Ugly walls
Finally got this first MK4->CoreOne upgrade done. Just printed a benchy. It seemed fine. I'll try to do some more test prints today and see what the quality looks like.
