Two PSUs?

I haven’t really seen anybody else talking about this, been in a lot of the review videos it’s showing that there’s two power supplies on the back of it. I’m guessing that one is specifically for lights and other accessories and the other is exclusively for the hotend and bed (or maybe split between the two?)

It also looks as if the second one is jumped to the first one, but again I can’t find anything detailing this yet.

Best Answer by Walter Layher:

Never judge a PSU by its cover. 🙂
They moved the electronics box outside of the chamber. That is the second box.

I like the symmetry, and the fact that the electronics box is outside of the enclosure completely, alongside the PSU. Makes for a neat setup.

I think I recall one of the Prusa representatives mentioning (maybe at Formnext?) that they used the same sheet metal cover from the power supply on the xBuddy enclosure. Makes sense to reduce the unique BOM line items for stock control reasons. Unfortunately, it makes it look like there are two power supplies (until you see the WiFi dongle attached to one of the enclosures...).

And it should allow for good heat management in the electronics box. You don't want that to reside in the heated chamber, of course. And its cover has decent ventilation slots. And maybe it even has enough room inside to attach heat sinks to the stepper motor drivers? (There has been some grumbling about Prusa driving three Z motors from a single driver in the Core One, apparently.)
