New belt tension vs square gantry
Hi. I followed the new belt tension method here ( https://help.prusa3d.com/article/adjusting-belt-tension-core-one_845048) and have my upper belt tuned to exactly 98hz and lower belt to 92Hz. However, I noticed that after tension adjustment, there is a hint of play on the right side. I confirmed this with a skew test ( https://www.printables.com/model/1143218-vernier-skew-test), which showed that I was off by almost -0.9mm. Negative values, according to the model author indicates that the left side is too tight. This lines up with my findings on play on the right corner. Is this the expected outcome of the new tuning recommendations/method?
RE: New belt tension vs square gantry
No, it means either the gantry is not square initially, OR you need to creep up on the right tensions in smaller increments side to side. My first time retuning with the new approach I ran into this - loosen it up, verify square, re-tighten in much smaller increments (it takes longer, but...) and it remained square. Though I seem to recall I ended up with 92/97 measurements.
RE: New belt tension vs square gantry
So you're able to get the new recommended values and your skew test came out square? I started with squared skew test. The values indicate that the x-axis upper belt is looser than the y-axis lower belt. If I were to flip that around and tune to the recommended values where the y-axis lower belt is looser than the x-axis upper belt, the printer gets pulled out of square because the x-axis is tighter and there ends up being play on the right side.

I didn't hit them exactly, but that may be related to not actually being perfect 92/98 hz for correct tuning? Not sure. I tuned to square and targeting both between the 92 and 98 values.
When I was unable to achieve both stops fully engaged, it was because I tightened one belt too much w/o equally tightening the other. I got down to like 1/8 turns, maybe less. You can't tune just one belt or the other independently, both adjustments change both belts.
RE: New belt tension vs square gantry
Hi, I'm also experiencing issues with the new belt tension method.
And I did the same thing as OP did, printed the vernier skew test and it measured -0.6 offset.

How do I verify square? Do I need to disassemble the top of the printer to do this?
RE: New belt tension vs square gantry
All 3 axis failed on calibration after I assembled my kit and set both belts to EXACTLY the recommended tuning.
I loosened both a half turn, ran calibration again and both passed. Make sure the smooth rods are exactly in their assigned spaces and z threaded rods not overtightened onto the bed structure. My printer is surprisingly quiet.
